"Life's short, play more" VS "Life's a game"

Which one do you like better????

C.H 03-29-2002 09:31 AM

There both quite good, but i think i'll have to wait until i see both adverts. I've seen the X-BOX advert, and it's very good, it works especilly well with the slogan. So i think it might be better until i see the Gamecube advert and then see how it works with the slogan.

I was going to put this in a thread, but i'm not sure if i'll bother. Gamecube adverts start airing in the UK tommorrow (saturday), during a documentary of robbie williams (GOD I HATE HIM). I know this because i signed up to cubeclub.co.uk and u get emailed info bout the Gamecube itself, Ad campaign and the actaul Cube clubs (although i've only got like 2 emails so far). So i assuming that it'll start airing through out the rest of europe in the next couple of days (if not, now).

Once i've seen the advert, then i'll judge.

Life's short, play more has the best sound to it.

Life's short, play more.

They should have stuck with born to play, I like that better.

Angrist 03-29-2002 01:39 PM

Weird, how they don't wanna have the same slogan in differents continents... what did Japan have???

Ric 03-29-2002 05:37 PM

'To Be This Good Takes Ages' (Sega/Ages) Thats one of my favourite advertising slogans for any console ever.

I think the X-Box advert, the one with the mosquito's and all is very clever, well I am a A-Level Media studies student and that is my opinion anyway.

As was mentioned by C.H I will have to see other adverts before I pass judgement.

The European/British X-Box marketing campaign will probably win the award for 'The Most Pretensious, Self-Loving, Obscure, Dull and Annoying Advert Award' and the 'Advertising Campaign Most Devoid of Imagination, Bueaty and Scope' award. I'm not saying that the Nintendo marketing campaign will sweep the Design and Art Directors awards, ( Known as the D&AD Association.) but Microsoft doesn't know how to make a decent product, let alone an advertising campaign. Oh, and the X-Box Japanese launch slogan was "Are you ready?"

Ginkasa 03-30-2002 11:20 AM

"Life's short, play more" sounds better to me. "Life's a gam" just kind of sounds... I don't know...

Life's Short, Play More sounds better as a slogan, however, when coupled with the advert, Life's A game is more effective IMHO.

I have to agree with Ric on this, although both slogans are good when coupled with the adverts. The gamecube slogan is more themed towards the console, because through out the advert you see cubes. People in cubes, alsorts of things in cubes. So u can see how relvent the slogan is for the gamecube when you see the advert. With the advert it's the perfect slogan (and also with the magazine as angrist posted).

But when the slogans stand alone, the X-BOX slogan is better, because you get it straight away. You only really get the Gamecube advert when you see the adverts, because then you see how relevent it is to the gamecube.
