A Long Day
I know I haven't posted about this before, but I have to talk about it now. My serious lady-friend's father went in for a heart transplant today.
She called me at about 6 AM to let me know and generally freak out. Well a quick shower and a fill-up later and I was on the road to Penn Hospital. I got there about 9 AM (traffic sucked) and proceeded to wait for 9 hours while he was operated on while attempting to keep her on an even keel. We get paged and head up to whatever level you meet with the doctor and proceed to wait another hour for him to get his goddamn act together. You would think that a pager would mean a sense of urgency... apparently NOT. Anyway, the operation was a success and I have a very relieved little woman on my hands, instead of the high-strung insane woman I've been dealing with for the last 2 months or so. I'm home now and exhausted. Who would think that sitting and waiting could be so tiring? |
Re: A Long Day
i know how exhausting sitting and waiting can be...last november when my dog was put out to be examined (she had cancer) I felt like each minute was an hour. unfortunately after a bunch of those days, she didnt pull through. and the strange thing is...as bad as those days sitting and waiting were...I had wished those would be every day once she had passed away. i wished there had been more of them, if that makes any sense...

Re: A Long Day
You're a good partner to be so supportive and stay for the duration of the operation. Your girlfriend would make no mistake in choosing to spend her life with you.
