PSP: Programs

thought i'd make a new topic for this since they arent really emulators.

but this has been out for a few days, just got to trying it now. gotta say its pretty neat. PSP FTP.
it lets you setup a FTP server on your PSP, Connect to it through any FTP program and access your memory card without needing a usb wire or memory stick reader. (of course you need one of thoes to put the ftp server on, after that however, you dont)
so for me, i set it up with the wireless network at work, now i can goto work and put files and other programs/emulators onto my PSP wirelessly :)

Which brings up the next point, i dont think it will be long at all before someone makes a Web browser program. would be nice if someone made a port of Firefox, then i could run firefox on my PSP. hehe.

Also, one im looking really forward to is DIVX on psp. :) they have already released a early version of this, it has no sound right now. but it'll be nice when they get it completly working. Then i can put Divx files on my PSP and have them look good at a smaller size then the PSP movies.

that requires a big memory stick then.

If you have wipeout pure there is a way to get a web browser on it, but I think the cookies reset every time you restart it.

Programs don't interest me much at the moment becuase they would be taking up valuable space on my 32MB memory card.

Has there been any developments in the PDF side? I remember last time I checked, the only PDF-to-PSP type program was for Mac.

Imagine having Photoshop CS on the PSP... XD

Re: PSP: Programs

well the web browser woudlnt take up too much space. just have to keep things clear, and if they got one working well it would be faster then the hack one in wipeout.

divx would SAVE space. you'd get better looking video in smaller sizes.

and the ftp is just a way to connect without needing a wire :P

theres others that woudl take up space. i dont really care that much tho, i like having it do all sorts of things.

Atho, my 1gig mem stick does help out a lot. :) good ol newegg, got me a 1gig for under $100 last week. they're over $150 at best buy.

In a completely unbiased way, I think Photoshop CS would work a tad better on the DS if the storage size was there ;)

yes. photoshop would kick ass on the DS. being able to draw with the stylus :)

however, doesnt matter anyway. neither are powerful enough to handle something like photoshop. lol

Hey null, I thought you might find this interesting:

http://www.pspupdates.com/2005/07/ps....html#comments

One of the first browsers to show up...still not perfect, but it's getting there.

Also: You bring up an interesting point with photoshop. The handhelds might not be able to run them, but someone might come up with a PSPgimp program or or a NDSgimp or something. It would be like a stripped down version, but still pretty cool.

Probably would be better than MSpaint at least.

Re: PSP: Programs

i've seen that and tried to understand it. and i cant find something that explains PVNC, but from what i remember, all it is, is kinda sharing a screen with the PC, the PSP will display a certain part of the PC screen. and for these things to work it has to be connected to the PC.

i've been hoping im wrong on that tho, but i just cant find any info on PVNC right now. which is what that needs to run it says.

also, both handhelds have Linux in the works for them, im sure they'll get a gimp type app on them when that comes.

I don't have wifi so I didn't even read the article, I just saw the words "browser" and posted it here, because it's progress.

Do you think that they will ever start selling blank UMD's? It would be awesome if you could get like a USB UMD writer device. It would be great for storing pictures (and movies. :D), but you wouldn't have to use the memory card, because the UMD's would probably a lot cheaper than buying a gig memory card and putting two movies on it at a time...

Re: PSP: Programs

ups and downs,

upside, you'd get more space and like you said, much much cheaper.

down side, wouldnt be as fast loading as a memory card, and a UMD uses more battery power then reading off the memory stick would.
