Probably because the characters looked pretty real in FF, but not as good as this.

the neck is a little messed up too.

also, keep in mind that this is only one still shot of the character... could they keep it that realistic in motion?

Hahaha... before seeing the picture I thought it was something rendered on a GameCube, because you said GC instead of CG. Then I saw the picture... wow.

Although the render looks real and amazing, however it doesn't own the Final Fantasy movie, considering we don't see this render in realtime.

I can probably render 1/3 of that amazing render in Character studio... but then if I majored in CG Animation, I could probably match it.

But I know for sure I wouldn't be able to program an algorithm for motion and emotion.

The hair on his forehead doesn't look real. The mouth is weird as well.
