“MechAssault,” a futuristic sci-fi third-person shooter game, will allow gamers to command a huge walking tank known as a BattleMech. Players will battle foes and take out enemy structures while manoeuvring a huge BattleMech, or ’Mech, through a variety of environments. A dozen powerful BattleMechs are available in “MechAssault,” each with massive firepower. “MechAssault” features complete destruction on a level never seen before – everything in the world can be destroyed bit by bit. Gamers can play a variety of missions with multiple objectives that require tactics and skill. “MechAssault” on Xbox also will include online features.

“We are going to blow action gamers’ minds when they unleash the massive firepower and military strength of ‘MechAssault,’” said Pete Parsons, director of marketing for Microsoft Game Studios.

“MechAssault” is being developed by Day 1 Studios.

A Mech Warrior game has already been confirmed for the Xbox. No details have been released yet though.

Well I just read that Mech Assault aactually takes place in the Mech Warrior Universe (aka "Battle Tech", never knew thats what its called) but it will be much more console friendly than the Mech Warrior games, meaning that there won't be so many engineering options or need for a degree in therno-dynamics to play the game (actually, I like that aspect of the Mech Warrior games)

Also, IGN said that it will be a kind of mix of Mech Warrior aand Mech Commander in a way. I'm kind of eager to check this one out :)

Bah I really don't like ...or haven't played much good mech games...and I probadly won't play this....unless I can convince my friend to buy and xbox......hmmmmmmmm.
