Next-Generation
These are according to demographics and sales charts, and in order of release, not RANKED.
Sega Saturn (first of the 32 bit generation) Sony Playstation (second in generation) Nintendo 64 (considered to be 32 bit analysts say because of it's catridge based gameplay) Winner: Playstation Sega Dreamcast (first of the 128 bit generation) Sony Playstation 2 (second of the 128 bit generation) Xbox (third) GCN (fourth) Winner: Playstation 2 Now, I've been going around forums and lately have been hearing that Xbox 360 will destroy PS3 because of the fact that it will be releasing earlier than that of the PS3 and the Revoluion. Xbox 360 slated for this fall, and Sony's and Nintendo's in mid-2006. My opinion.... Sony has never been the first of it's generation and has won in sales for 2 generations now. (Note I said sales....SALES not capability of hardware superiority...) For 2 generations Sony PSX and PS2 has ruled the sales charts and it has not released first. So what I'm trying to say is.... you think Xbox 360 will win next-gen in sales because it is released earlier? I don't think so... Even though Dreamcast was the first 128... it wasn't in the triple threat in this generation. Of the three in this gen... PS2 released earlier, and we saw better machines in Xbox and GCN because they released later and had more time to perfect their machines. Will we see the sae fate with the Xbox 360 being the weakest system, releasing the earlier of the 3? |
Re: Next-Generation
You know, you should stop trying to make Sony superior over everything else. I think we can all agree that Sony won this and the last generation, but you take it and run like a maniac with it... just stop...
This and just like many other thread that I've read... is pointless... |
Re: Next-Generation
You could argue that the Dreamcast was the last of the previous generation, because I don't know if it really belongs up in this generation. Most people would agree that this generation has been PS2, Xbox, and GC.
But, this is your point, so tell it how you wanna tell it. |

Until subject Kyuzo presents authentic evidence in the form of URLs supporting his unbelievable claims, I will not certify this thread as true.

Re: Next-Generation
I dont think Microsoft's second console offering will be the leader in sales BECAUSE it's going to be released first...but that doesnt mean it wont be the leader is sales for other reasons (3rd party support, marketing, yadda yadda).
and GM, you gotta lay off a bit. either that, or lend your opinion on the topic at hand first and THEN discredit the posting of the thread ;) just my opinion |

Re: Next-Generation
I have one question, if this thread is pointless, why bother posting in it?

Re: Next-Generation
Kyuzo has stolen my title of fanboy here on the boards, yay? :p
But who cares who wins. All 3 companies are here to stay, if I get good games, I'm happy |

yea i dont think it was yours to have stolen, the title of biggest fanboy has aways belonged to 'someone' else. |
Re: Next-Generation
Sometimes you guys assume to quickly and judge. I really have no idea where you got the idea that this was ever a Sony praise thread.
Perfect Stu got the idea and raised discussion, as was the point of this thread. I saw other forums saying the Xbox would do better since it released first. I was clearly saying how PSX and PS2 won the last 2 generations but definitely werent the first to be released. So I wanted to discuss what you guys felt was the speculated market trend of the next-generation. Sometimes there is TOO MANY ill-directed threads to see through this and actually discuss whats at hand. People keep jumping to conclusions.... I wanted to discuss market trends of release dates for consoles............and if you cannot discuss it, don't reply here undermining my thread, calling it a fanboy post. |
Re: Next-Generation
Actually, I raised a genuine argument stating that you could consider the PS2 to be the first console released this generation. You cannot automatically put the Dreamcast based on bits because after the PSX and the 64, bits has very little to do with processing power and performance. I think you could very easily qualify the Dreamcast as the last of the previous generation.

Re: Next-Generation
nope, because Saturn woulda been segas previous generation console. they had one for every generation at that point, so one cant really consider there to be 2 generation of consoles in one 'generation'. erm or something like that. lol Dreamcast is def. considered to be this generation of consoles. And whos baseing it off bits anyway? i ASSUME dreamcast was 32 bit processor, not sure but thats what i'd think, xbox has a 32 bit processor, i know that for sure.
