Broken
My ps2 has died.
It all happened one day (like today), when I was playing Mortal Kombat Deception. The game started glitching really badly, and the music stopped playing randomly and the load times started to become insanely long. And, the PS2 made these really really wierd noises the whole time I was playing. It wasn't coming out of my speakers, it was coming from the actually PS2. Kind of like a stuttering noise. I took the game out and turned it off, and tried to play it again, and now when I put a game in (any game), it just sets there on the browser screen and makes stuttering noises. And I've waited long enough for it to cool down, and it still won't work. Anyone know what's wrong with it, or how to fix it? |
Re: Broken
never had that problem before... open up the ps2... thats what i did when i started getting disc read errors.
you open it up and raise the lens reader closer to the actual cd |
Re: Broken
Sounds like its on its last legs. Call Sony if its under warranty and get a replacement if you did nothing wrong to it.

Re: Broken
Has it taken any recent drops or damage, Vampyr?
That's the only thing I can think of. I would advise you to go with Jonbo's advice and see if you're elligible for a replacement under your warranty. |
Re: Broken
everyone's ps2 is dying. you have to sit kyles upside down to get it to work.
mine is gettting ready to just go *poof*... i guess i should start saving money for a new one. buu. |

Re: Broken
I got mine fixed last summer. Sony has some great customer service, I got it fixed free of charge, and now it works wonderfully.

Re: Broken
My brothers was always screwed up, but he dropped it when he brought it over one time.
You would stick a disc in, and you would hear like, the CD starting, and stopping, and it would take 5 minutes to load a disc. Yet he still uses it. |
Re: Broken
MMM....my Stereo stopped working. So I ripped the thing apart and tossed it. I suggest you research fixing the thing on the net, there are some good sites out there to fix it.

Under the 81 million tag, PS2 already has an astonishing software tie-in rate. If you're insinuating that the total number of owners is closer to, say, 60 million...that would make the tie-in ratio even more disgustingly amazing ;) I belive the situation is known as "win-win" and I suggest you clean your PS2, Vamp. find a website offering a tutorial on cleaning the system and do it at home. what kyuzo said, changing that little gear to make the lens closer to the disc, that can work too. First, I would try contacting Sony like Joeiss did. |

For every 100 PS2's I get back in for being defective I get maybe 20 Xbox's and 5 Gamecubes. That's not a fanyboy's opinion or rant. It's simply my experience working in a game retailing environment. On a positive note, I've only seen one PS2 - Two come back in since it was sold. |
