PSP Launching March 24, with 24

With unsurpassed support from the world's premier software developers, Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. announced the groundbreaking line-up of 24 titles for its revolutionary PSP (PlayStation Portable) handheld entertainment system, available during the North American launch time frame. With a launch library more than triple that of the Nintendo DS, Sony Computer Entertainment America further displays the ongoing support for the new platform with an additional 23 titles currently in development. Consumers can expect Sony Computer Entertainment America's software titles to range from as low as $39.99 SRP.

Representing a broad cross section of entertainment genres, the diverse PSP system launch library includes titles from publishing leaders Activision, Capcom, Eidos Interactive, Electronic Arts, Koei, Konami, Namco and Sony Online Entertainment.

Additionally, Sony Computer Entertainment America enjoys unprecedented support for the PSP with over 100 content developers and publishers on board worldwide to create titles for PSP, accounting for most of the software development community.

I have a feeling that since the range starts at $39.99, that the actual good games for the handheld will more likely be $49.99. Just my opinion though.

Best of luck :)

Doesn't matter... they aren't cookie cutter games at the least. If they supposedly deliver PS2 power it would only make sense they be as pricey as PS2 games... my opinion.

And that is one of the reasons Sony has such massive third party support, because the developers make more money off of it.

They make more money off of it because they sell more copies, not because the software's more expensive.. I think.

I think it has to do with both Cany.... --- If they sell more copies... and the game is more expensive...... hence the profit margins... increase.

Yeah well I'm always happy that GC games are cheaper than PS2 in Europe. If I were a parent and wanted to buy a console for my kid, I'd pick the cheap one. And stimulate sales of that console... :) It's all about economy... well it should be... Unless you can provide some stuff that nobody has.. like PS2 with its massive support... :unsure:

a lot of the reasons that ps games are $49.99 are because of third party SRP's.... I mean first party Sony games are $39.99

and Capcom and SNK games are $39.99 at least over here they are.

Hm I guess the pricing system is way different in Europe then.

First party Nintendo games are always €60 (=$80). 3rd party are sometimes a bit more expensive, but become budget titles pretty fast.

Launching 24 games along with the PSP launch is a great move. Although Nintendo DS only had about 3 or 4, so it wouldn't matter if Sony had launched a few less then 24 but I think they're making an excellent first impression with handheld gamers.

I sure would've liked more launch games with the DS. I'd even like more DS games now, lol. I want to read about the games being released for the PSP. If there is one or more that sound great, I would choose to buy a PSP.

PS2 and Xbox games are €70--> $92.

PC games are usually €50 ($65) though.
