I don't know what to call this thread.
My father went to Charlotte today and turned down an offer from Theresa Earnhardt to be Dale Earnhardt Incorporated's lead engine builder.
This is terrible to me because I was named after Dale Earnhardt. |
Re: I don't know what to call this thread.
who's Dale Earnhardt?

O_O
Why?! That would be so cool! I would slap your father. And Happydude and Yan for being so ignorant of cool stuff. *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: I don't know what to call this thread.
Well, from personal experience I can tell you it is quite easy to turn down what you've always wanted in an instant. And normally you end up regretting it later.

That's harsh. I grew up in Malaysia where motor races were usually confined to the later television time slots or the Sunday no-one-can-really-be-bothered-watching-television afternoon ones. That was it until recently when Malaysia got her first proper racing track and came up with her first local F1 'hero' (who, ironically, has been dumped by Minardi after a few seasons of dismal display). While F1 is well known, NASCAR is probably unheard of in Malaysia unless you are a die hard racing fan. I may be wrong as I don't follow this sport. Oh well. dropCGCF, sorry for hijacking your thread. |

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, dropCGCF. I will mourn the next couple of days for you.

Aw man that sucks. That would be somewhat of an honor. Working for Dale Earnhardt Inc. And not to mention, LEAD engine builder. Your dad must be pretty damn good. I bet it is a tough job though. You're always on the road because the season is from February to November. Is that why your dad turned it down? It's so unfortunate that Dale Earnhardt died, but he died doing what he did best, and he probably wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Re: I don't know what to call this thread.
He did it because he said that spending time with his family was more important.
I said that his family doesn't want to spend time with him anyways. For those of you who don't know, Dale Earnhardt Incorporated (DEI) is probably the largest racing company in America. It sucks doubly because my name is Dale. And yes, I was named after Dale Earnhardt. |
