And the day that you've all been waiting for is...

...July 16, 2005. That's right. Book six in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, now has an official release date. Who's excited?

There'll be one more after it. 7 books in all (for anyone incapable of basic math...which I don't think is anyone, but better safe than sorry...).

Yippy, skippy!

I love reading Harry Potter books. The problem is, I usually forget a lot of what's happened in previous books, so before I get this one, I'll have to go to Sparknotes.com and read summaries to refresh my memory.

That's boring.

What about "Harry Potter and the Half-Dead Virgin"? Or "Harry Potter is Half the Man He Used To Be" or even "Harry Potter and the Half of Half is One-Fourth"?

Pheh. You guys think this is taking a while? Just think about what the poor fans of Wheel of Time are going through (for the record, I'm not a fan of the Wheel of Time series although I do read the books eventually). It's been something like two years since the last book which advanced twenty plot threads a total of thirty pages each or so. So that means fans not only have a long time to wait, they also know that the plot is going to advance by about two days whenever the next book arrives.

I think I can relate. I mean, waiting two years for the sixth and final season of The Sopranos.

Anyway I already put myself down for a copy of the sixth book at Barnes & Noble last night. I might just take a few days off from work after July 16 of next year so I can read this book.

First, I can't believe jeepnut beat me to the news. Of course, I'm not up on my internet browsing because of vacation.

Second, I don't know what I should do... I'll be in France when it comes out. Such a dilemma!

But I can't wait!!!

Ugh. The Wheel of Time. I tried reading that, but it moved soooo slow. I read the first book and enjoyed myself well enough. But I got halfway through the second book and quit. It went hardly anywhere in that time. It felt like, to me, that Robert Jordan either didn't know where he wanted to take the story and stalled, or thought he had to match the length of the first book but didn't have the story to match.

The Song of Ice and Fire series is much better.
