Sound problems

Ok, I just downloaded some new drivers for my Geforce 5700, just to see if WoW preformance would be improved at all (not that it really needed to be). The game plays and runs just about the exact same way as it did before new driver download, however there are occassional static-like clippings in the sound. Not very frequent, but they are noticeable, and it's kind of annoying me.

Any ideas how I can render this problem? Perhaps downloading some sound card drivers, or something? Might just be better to remove the new graphics card drivers altogether, but I'm unsure how to do that.

Re: Sound problems

Why not just install the newest drivers for the sound card?

Re: Sound problems

Yeah, I know but, how exactly would you go about that? Do you need to know the exact type of sound card you have, and the company? Where can I go to get the newest sound card drivers?

Re: Sound problems

you dont know what sound card you have?

If you goto Control panel > Sounds and Audio > Audio Tab.

What does it say for your Playback device?

Ok well I found the drivers for my sound card, but I'm kind of worried about the "becareful this may screw you over" type message you get when downloading.

So, know a way to just remove the updated drivers from my graphics card?

btw the card is SoundMAX Digital Audio, maybe you know a better place to find an updated driver than I do.

I...don't know. I believe its part of the motherboard. But then again, I don't remember...

I customized my PC so I should know. But I don't.

edit: ok, did some looking around, it says its integrated audio.

Re: Sound problems

well normally i'd recommend just going out and buying a Sound Blaster Audigy LS sound card, would make life much easier and have much better sound quality. (i usually recommend it to people cuz thats the lowest price one at only $40)

im not really sure about integrated sound tho. thier drivers are usually harder to find

Re: Sound problems

In control panel under system, you just select the audio part and delete it, when the computer reboots it will say new hardware found.. However *disclaimer* if it dosn't then you have to go to add / rem new hardware select soundcard and install the driver....

But personally I think you should just go spluge and get a new sound card..

w00t.. anymore help my aim name is justseth2k3 :)

Re: Sound problems

The audio drivers for most integraded sound boards are bundeled in the motherboard drivers. So look for updated mob drivers to get the audio update as well.

I just got freaked. I made the post about the drivers update and when I submit the reply I found the CamFuBot already saw my post and quoted it?
How can that be?

He's just an automated A.I. unit.

I didn't mean to edit your post, I hit the wrong button.

But yeah, he's not a human so no need to fear.
