The Pacific
So the creators of the HBO mini-series "Band of Brothers" are at it again. When I say creators I mean Tom Hanks and Steven Speilberg, and friends.
As you can probably guess its about the Pacific theatre and runs 10 episodes long. Instead of following an entire company like in BoB (Easy Company) they are following three soldiers. This actually premiered tonight, but I have not been able to watch it as of yet. Thoughts? Anyone else going to watch this? |
Re: The Pacific
I'm actually just watching Band of Brothers right now. I'll have to catch up on this after it's already aired probably. It won't take me 10 years this time though.

Re: The Pacific
I'll be watching it. The first episode went by so fast, but I guess that's because half of it was all the preparation before being shipped off to war. It must have been awful to fight on those islands. The battles were pretty nasty.

Re: The Pacific
After seeing it, I like what they are doing. That first battle was pretty intense, and the aftermath in the day was pretty crazy.

Re: The Pacific
First episode was pretty good.
This series seems a bit more frantic, might be a little tougher to become familiar with the characters. |
Re: The Pacific
I saw the first episode and really liked it.
I think it'll be a really good series. Edit: I don't think it will be too tough to get used to the characters. It was only the first episode, afterall. The first episode of BoB was more or less the same - in the sense of following a lot of characters in the first episode who the show will follow throughout the course of the series. This series will probably be a lot deeper than the other one - less about 'war', and more about the mental aspect and morality. While still having plenty of war. |
Re: The Pacific
Anyone watch the second episode last night?

Re: The Pacific
Am I the only one that hasn't seen Band of Brothers? I feel like a moron for not watching it yet.

Other battles like Okinawa and Iwo Jima are sure to be bloodier, more intense, larger, and more straining on the marines. Heard the 3rd episode is mostly about them resting, good chance for character development. |
Re: The Pacific
Gonna have to add that to my list after Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared then eh?

Re: The Pacific
I really liked it so far.
I think I said this before, I think this series will be more about the internal moral issues, and the sheer terrifying-ness of the fact the Japanese just throw themselves at bullets. I'm glad the next episode will most likely be character development, because it's pretty needed. |
