Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!

Youtube some musics up ins.

Rule one: Only embedded youtube videos allowed.

Rule two: Only embed youtube videos if the music doesn't suck.

Rule three: No Interior Crocodile Alligators, god damn you Swan.

Rule four: No musical elitism. I don't care how long you've been listening to a band that someone else just listened to for the first time. Nobody else does either. Adding on to this notion, no use of the word "discovered" is permitted.

That said, I discovered Wintersleep last night. The song is called Weighty Ghost.

does anyone here like hip-hop and rap? i know it's one of those genres that everyone hates, and it's understandable, what with most of the radio and mtv stuff...

but there's SOOOOOOOOO much underground rap, it's crazy

anyway, these are The Problemaddicts. The song is "Show Stoppers."

Man.
I've liked them for years.
Me and Phil even went to their show a few months ago.
Pick up a phone, noob.
Not to mention I've been trying to get you to listen to Wintersleep for probably 7 months now, but gave up.

By the by, the rest of the Welcome to the Night sky album makes Weighty Ghost seem like a toddler shitting on your lawn.

A little John Butler for the masses. One of my favorite song writers/musicians nowadays.

That's not musical elitism.
Musical elitism is "I'm not going to like this band because of _____", which is exactly what you did when I kept trying to tell you about Wintersleep.

I was not stating I have been listening to them for a long time to try "show-off", rather more of a "what the fuck" to the fact you listen to them nearly a year after I tell you about them.

PS Phil: *high five*

Aletheian performing An Open Grave live. You may not like the music, but you have to admit, these guys have talent. Watch through the guitar solos if you want to get a full idea of what this band is capable of. It's a little "showy", but in a very musical way.

P.S. Swan, I think I like that John Butler song you posted.

Hmm, I strangely enjoyed that jeepnut.

But yeah Butler is quite amazing. You should check out some of his other stuff.
Here is an amazing instrumental piece by him called the Ocean

And a little instrumental piece by Buckethead

This isn't a Youtube video or whatever but some dude on GAF made this song with his band and it's pretty fucking good actually so I figured I'd put the link here. It has a cool style, it's like a few styles of music packed into one song, and it's instrumental which is cool every once in a while.

Because The Tea Party is an emabarrassment to Canadian music, and single handedly wipes off almost any artistic contribution any Canadian has ever made... ever...

If The Tea Party doesn't piss you off... it should.

Neil Young. The Band.

and dont say otherwise, they are fucking music legends.

Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!

Yesterday was the first time I ever heard this song. But what was unusual about it was when I was driving and it came on the radio, my foot involuntarily pushed down harder on the acceleration pedal. If 50 cent and Justin Timberlake were ingredients, they'd make the perfect drink.

Dude, don't forget Rush. Even if you don't like Geddy Lee you have to admit some of their music is mindblowing.

The Tea Party is from Ontario.
That's pretty self-explanatory as to why it's a big shrug.

And if you're going to remove artistic contribution from people like Matthew Good, because of a trio of douches from Ontario, that's about the same as anyone removing any sort of recognition from any musician from the US ever, just because of Raffi.

i am not aware of Raffi... I would have used Meatloaf, who is about as close to the American version of The Tea Party as you can get. And for the record, my tongue was firmly in my cheek while making those posts. I actually really like Canadian music in general, its your musical exports I'm not that fond of.

Canadian music is like Canadian beer. What they partake of domestically is far better than what they send the US.

Teuthida 05-22-2008 03:55 PM

Re: Musical YouTubes: Our tubes are filled with music!

I don't understand the analogy since Raffi is both Canadian and awesome.
