Twilight?

Apart from all the hype and fangirls, what do you think of the movies?

Yesterday I watched part 1 for the second time, it's pretty good. Lacks some serious action, but it has a good atmosphere.

So are part 2 and 3 any good?

Three is actually really good, for what it is. Has way more action than the first two, and the fight scenes are actually very original and exciting.

I am not planning on seeing the fourth though. I've read the books, and there is no way that the fourth is going to be a good movie unless they make some major changes to the story.

Re: Twilight?

I'll admit to watching these. I felt to have a valid opinion on these stupid teen romance movies, I'd actually have to see them. My opinions...

The first one was decent, it rode that mediocre wave pretty well. For what it was.

The second one was terrible. It didn't feel like a sequel, it just felt like the first one remade. The same exact themes, and hardly anything progressed in the plot that didn't happen already in the first. And the action was non-existent. I know that these are supposed to be about teen angst/fantasy love that appeals to teen girls, but need I remind people that the movie is about vampires, and werewolves, and fucking more vampires that are really evil. You expect action from such a movie, and when you don't get it, you are left very disappointed.

The third one I won't see for as long as possible, but at least it's getting mediocre reviews on RT.

I quite like vampires, but as far I can tell there aren't any in the Twilight movies.

Count Orlok is a sexy beast.

The movies are unintentionally hilarious. My wife and I never miss them once they hit dvd.

Got any drinking-game style rules to look for?

Take a shot every time Jake is on screen without his shirt on.

Take a shot every time Edward "sparkles".

Take a shot every time Edward broods for no discernible reason.

Take a shot every time Edward and Bella almost-but-not-quite kiss.

Take a shot every time Bella sets women's liberation back 5 years by being an empty, helpless shell of a human being.

Thank you.

Are the books any good? I won't read them, but my brother might.

Oh, please never play this as a real drinking game. You'll be dead of alcohol poisoning within 30 minutes.

Re: Twilight?

Ha! But I always play these drinking games with beer, and the "take a shot" as "take a drink", instead. It makes it much more fun and lengthy, without getting obliterated early.

Oh oh oh!

I just had a brilliant idea (let's be honest, its the only one I have) if you are willing to write that is.

What if you wrote a review for Twilight while playing the drinking game, just to see how your opinion changes the drunkier you get.

I want to put the review scale to the test. :D

I just had the best idea in the history of ideas. Instead of having one set of rules, break the audience up into "Team Jacob" and "Team Edward", and see who gets more loaded.

Thank me later.

Re: Twilight?

Hmm I may just have to do this. Need some more rules for Jacob though.

I love bad-movie drinking games. My previous favorite is one my friends and I came up with for the hilariously bad, Michael-missing Halloween 3: Season of the Witch. Some of the rules I remember --

Take a drink any time you hear that goofy mask commercial music
Take a drink any time you hear the BYOOOOOOOOOOO eighties laser sound
Take a drink any time you see one of the Halloween masks
Take a drink any time our action hero Tom Atkins looks confused
Take two drinks any time Tom Atkins and his love-interest Ellie Grimbridge both look confused
Take a drink any time someone drinks or is buying alcohol in the middle of the day
Finish your drink any time you see Tom Atkins' pale nude ass

I think there may be more I'm forgetting, I'll have to play again. :)

Re: Twilight?

Now I don't like to steal ideas, but I do like to borrow them and make them seem like I came up with them!

So since you wanted to help out with the site, why not create drinking games/rules for bad movies.

We could feature like one a week. And maybe a review to go along with the movies.
