Mr. Colbert Visits Washington

So someone was kind enough to invite him to testify.

I really don't like it when either party participates in "stunt casting" like this. At best, Colbert is a dabbler in this issue, and his testimony and the media attention it has garnered takes away from everyone else who were testified and were experts in their areas.

The thing is I don't get how certain Republicans view Stephen Colbert.

I'm not sure if some of them think that his character is a real person, or if they're just fans of the show despite being Republicans. Because his show is clearly satire from the view of an extreme Republican, made to poke fun at extreme Republicans.

Take CNN's [douchy-what's-his-face] dude, and chick for example. With Jon Stewart's March To Restore Sanity, and Stephen Colbert's Rally To Keep Fear Alive [Clearly being the same thing, as Colbert's is a joke] - they refuse to acknowledge Jon Stewart's half of it, and only promote the Stephen Colbert part, because he is a "Real American" [Which is funny, because he plays a character of himself].

Now, part of me is pretty sure that they just are fans of the show, and want to promote him - but then I remember all the weird Republican support and invites he gets with/to such random things. And then I really hope that the Republicans who 'back', 'support', or 'advocate' for him are just fans that are 100% clearly aware that he isn't a 'real' person [in aspect of the character he plays].

I don't believe the Republicans in invited him, and I doubt they take him seriously. Republicans, while slaves to populist dogma as much as any politician, are not retarded enough to think he is his character.
