Great episode. All the pieces are really coming together for an epic finale.

I still have a feeling that a lot of things won't really get answered the way we are hoping.

Also the name Lafleur still has some meaning, since it was his safety word.

Pretty excellent episode.

What the shit is up with Sayid? This whole suddenly evil thing is bothering me. Before I could justify it as the Man in Black giving him an offer he couldn't refuse (bringing back Nadia), but the way he sat there and didn't give a shit when Kate was attacked felt really wrong. What happened to him when he died?

Meh. Mainly a filler episode with no answers.

The most intriguing part was Flocke talking about his early life with a crazy mother. Now him being Esau does seem to fit (and I had forgotten the biblical Jacob lived in Egypt for a time so there's that connection too)...sort of. I have doubts they'll ever name him outright.

Richard next week! Now if there aren't any answers then...

...there better be answers.

Neo says filler episode, which may be true but I really enjoyed this one. Sawyer's alternate-ego is fun to watch. Lady's man much? Though him being a cop makes him letting Kate go at the airport a bit more interesting...

And yes, Richard episode next week. NICE.

It's because both Sayid and Claire are infected.

I really liked that part.
Humanizing flocke - for lack of a better word - was a great idea.
I think that was the first time he's actually had a type of actual compassion that we've seen.

Re: Lost 3/16 "Recon"

I'm bored so I'm wikipedia-ing things to make really lame connections in my own mind, and came across this:

Quote:

The Midrash says that whenever she (Jacob and Esau's mother) would pass a house of Torah study, Jacob would struggle to come out; whenever she would pass a house of idolatry, Esau would agitate to come out. She received the prophecy that twins were fighting in her womb and would continue to fight all their lives, and after they became two separate nations. The prophecy also said that the older would serve the younger; its statement "one people will be stronger than the other" has been taken to mean that the two nations would never gain power simultaneously: when one fell, the other would rise, and vice versa.

The boys displayed very different natures as they matured. "Esau became a hunter, a man of the field, but Jacob was a simple man, a dweller in tents" (Genesis 25:27). Moreover, the attitudes of their parents toward them also differ: "Isaac loved Esau because game was in his mouth, but Rebecca loved Jacob"

Infected with what?

I'm convinced that Dogen was talking in riddles.

A machine that tests how evil you are? That would be retarded. Lost's writers are better than that. I think Dogen just wanted to get him killed because he didn't like the fact that Sayid came back to life.

As I said to Dylan today:

I believe Jacob's touch makes them incapable of dying. Think about it. Jacob physically touched each person at some point to be a 'candidate', and while his touch may not have physically brought them to the Island, it made it sure they would survive until the candidacy was complete. It would explain how Locke survived his fall, Charlie survived OD's, they all survived the Plane crash, and can go through physically traumatic things on the Island and seem to always be okay. Only when their candidacy is removed, are they then not protected by 'the gift' given to them - alluded to by Richard.
