Them Crooked Vultures

I don't know who here has heard of, or any songs.

However Them Crooked Vultures consists of Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) on drums, John Paul Jones (Led Zepplin) on Bass/Synth and Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) on lead and vocals.

This band is simply amazing. The album isn't released yet, and the youtube videos are live recordings or teasers - but the music is awesome.

I think I'm starting to grow out of alternative music, but I agree with you, they sound awesome.

They may sound a bit too much like QotSA, though..

I just came here to post the song, but you beat me to it.

It sounds nothing like QOTSA other than the fact Homme has a distinguishable voice and sings in both.

The DJ on the radio said it best "This is the type of song that will grow on you. Eventually, you'll realize it's 3 people being amazing at what they do."

I actually really like it.

I never listened to TQOSTA much but I don't think they sound like them.

Fucking amazing. November 17th is waaaaaaaaaay too far away.

I probably listen to Eagles of Death Metal every day, and QOTSA very regularly.

If they sound like anything judging by the studio release, I'd say it Zeppelin with the bluesy guitar and power drums and base. John Paul Jones still got it.

I will buy this

EDIT: I'm finding everything I can on the net for this band. I can't stop listening to them.

Pretty awesome...with people from Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, and QotSA, I'm going to have to get it.

Re: Them Crooked Vultures

I completely forgot how much of a machine Dave Grohl is on drums. Thank you Nirvana for that.

The things I really enjoy about this band:

Dave Grohl is possibly one of the best drummers out there right now, and has been for nearly 20 years now.

Josh Homme is an amazing vocalist for the sole reason that his voice sounds like nobody else, and you can tell it's his guitar just because of the sound.

JPJ still kicks ass on bass and synth.

Listening to them more and more, I'd have to say that they're a mesh of QOTSA, Zepplin, and every hard Foo Fighters song.

Dear God.

Guys. Heads up. Their shit is up on iTunes. (I've been checking hourly every day... yes, I'm that crazy about them!)

One of the singles is free right now too on iTunes exclusively - I don't know how long for.

Preordering on iTunes garners an extra song in the album, too - I'm tempted, but I kind of want the CD for the quality.

Re: Them Crooked Vultures

What a fun album. To me this album is like a tribute album to good rock.

First off....Scumbag Blues totally borrowed some riffage from Cream:

Now onwards with my thoughts....first Dave Grohl and Josh Homme teamed up on Songs for the Deaf. So the combination of Grohl and Homme should be natural as they have already worked together before on what is easily one of the best albums to come out in the past 10 years. This is quite evident I think since a lot of the bells and whistles on the Them Crooked Vulture's album sound like they came from the QotSA bag of tricks.

There are so many Zeppeliny moments on this album though.

And when John Paul Jones throws in the keyboard, oh man...like on Bandoliers which has a totally fucking epic keyboard part and goes back back to the Kashmir days. And oh my Grohl the drum part on Bandoliers is the most thumping and fucking awesome thing I have heard on an album in a long time.

I mean right now I have to say this album sounds like a Zeppelin-Songs for the Deaf science experiment that rocks like a good rock album should.

Fans of rock, QotSA or Zeppelin owe it to themselves to check this out.
