GameTavern - Tears of the Kingdom

Beat the story a couple of days ago! All the shrines done. Did not find all Sage's Wills or fully illuminate the Depths.

I thought it was a great game and worthy follow up to BotW. It does a lot to bring some classic Zelda elements into the BotW style gameplay while also introducing some new stuff. That said, if you were absolutely against the changes made in BotW this likely won't be your jam as ultimately it definitely carries on the blueprint written out by BotW.

The story is much more plot focused than BotW was which some will probably like better. I think its a bit of a wash. I think BotW's narrative fit really well with the gameplay. They enhanced each other. This more plot driven narrative clashes at times with the completely open gameplay style. Also, in classic Zelda tradition, the story makes a lot of references and callbacks that are cool on the surface but ultimately destroy any sense of continuity.
