2017 TV (what will you watch)

I'm a headcase for Top Gear so the new Grand Tour has been nourishment for my soul.

This season's special wasn't the best ever, but it featured dune buggies (beach buggy) which I am fond of....and Namibia.

I just watched the pilot for Taboo. This is my most anticipated show for the year. I'm a bit of a Tom Hardy fan.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
So far in season 12 episodes 1 and 2 are on course. I enjoy the social commentary. This show and South Park I consider to be the best long running TV shows.

How does one even keep up with all the TV programming available? One doesn't?
So much of it is terrible.

Shows that I have started but have yet to pick back up:

Better Call Saul (I'll totally finish season 2)

Stranger Things (roommate doesn't like it so I'll get back to it later)

Rick and Morty (I've only seen the pilot. It has been recommended heavily)

House of Cards (beg of season 3 ..the Frank and Claire DC couple thing is a bit much)

Black Sails (on ep 4 or 5)

Mr Robot (Lost interest after half-watching season 1)

Some shows that I'm interested in checking out:

Red Oaks

The Killing Season

Sweet/Vicious (more of a study than entertainment draw)

Hunting Hitler

Sneaky Pete

Fargo

Man, I need to catch up on so much TV before I think of what's coming in 2017. I wanted to check out Westworld since my friends said it's pretty good.

Other than the NFL I pretty much watch no cable TV any more.

2017 will probably consist of watching more Netflix Originals and some HBO stuff.

We just finished The Crown a few days ago, that was really good. Right now we are working our way through A Series of Unfortunate Events, which has been pretty great so far.

I'm interested in checking out a show called The OA. Looks weird but interesting.

Yep, have they even announced when the next season is going to start?

I think I read something about it coming back in the summer.

What did you think of last season?

I enjoyed it, but must confess I have not and probably will not ever read the books. I know some book readers are pretty annoyed by the changes and the fact that the show has gotten ahead of the books in some how, but it really doesn't bother me.

The only thing I didn't like is how long the Church vs Crown thing went on for. It felt like every episode that involved that stuff was basically repeating the same lines over and over. The plot developed very slowly and it took like two whole seasons.

I also don't understand how the Church was so powerful to begin with. In the first few seasons the gold cloaks that Cersei commanded were seemingly invincible. No one had any sway over here at all because of that.

Then in this season the church comes along with a bunch of peasants wearing burlap sacks and somehow they hold the power? If that's all it takes to conquer King's Landing I don't know why every other nation in the world isn't converging upon on them, if they are that weak.

That said I loved the finale, with the fire and Tommen's jump.

Yes, the Sparrow storyline went on for far too long. You could tell they were trying to save most of their budget for the Battle of the Bastards and finale episodes. I hope they don't do that this season. Some episodes can be a real drag. I think I remember reading that the last two seasons will have less episodes, but if that means great episodes from start to end, then I'm ok with that.

Also, Arya's storyline was somewhat interesting (although also way too drawn out), but I was really annoyed by the resolution of the Braavos storyline. She got stabbed and it definitely looked like a mortal wound! But no, she just needed one night to recover and then she was fine with running across the entire fucking city, lmao.

I know it's a fantasy show, but GoT was always fairly grounded in reality, imo.

But yes, the finale was awesome. RIP Margaery :(

My friend lent me the first book. I've been putting it off but I'll give it a read eventually.

The first three books are fantastic, I actually have read them.

I've heard from people than the fourth and on slow way down. I believe the fourth only has half the main characters in it, too.

I'm also just not sure if or when Martin is going to finish them, so I don't really feel like getting invested any further.
