Thoughts on current state of politics?

What do you guys think about the state of politics in the US and Europe as of late? 2016 was a doozy of a year.

Basically confirmed what I've always known to be true. People don't know how to vote in their own best interest. The poor and middle class actively conspire to maintain the status quo.

Hell, this election I would have preferred the status quo.

People vote more for perceived problems than long-term fixes

Make BitCoin Great Again! haha

this isn't funny.

I wish Canada had the same free speech laws that make America the great country it is.

You can get jailed under hate speech allegations pretty quick in this cold leftist tundra.

This is coming from a long time moderate who would refuse a political side because the overlap of issues.

I have this scary feeling that people no longer listen to the source. Everyone seems to be getting their information through a slant instead of looking at the evidence for themselves. Escapism vs Responsible opinion formation

It's like the Tommy Robinson situation in England. People have woken up to the fact that if you voice a problem that isn't progressive left, it doesn't automatically make one a racist, phobic, etc. This is what happens when undemocratic immigration policies are forced on a population despite its best interest. When the media tries to slander and obfuscate the nature of an individual who is brave enough to stand up, people notice the blanket bias.

The left is what has brought about reactionary alt-right politics and their blanket accusation appraisals of the politically opposed is deeply troubling to me.
