A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
Well here it is
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/549/549950p1.html September 21, 2004 - In the midst of the Pre-TGS 2004 Business Briefing in Tokyo this morning, PlayStation Father and CEO Ken Kutaragi revealed some cold hard facts about the upcoming PlayStation 3. Unfortunately for eager fans, an actual release date or system design wasn't among them, but we did learn that the PS3 would definitely use Blu-Ray -- and that it will also play DVDs and CDs in addition to having 54GB of storage capacity. But how that 54GB of storage space is going to be distributed was not revealed (ie: no idea if that's including the new 54GB Blu-Ray discs minus a Hard Drive, or if it'll be the traditional 24GB disc plus a Hard Drive). Though some of this news has been whispered about before, or confirmed in various sound bytes here and there, Kutaragi's statements are the most that any representative of Sony has given at any one time about the system for as long as we can remember. Sadly for us, nothing else about the PS3 was revealed. Of course, if something more is uncovered, you can be sure that we'll be back to cover it. So keep those eyes and ears peeled for some possible surprises in the coming days. Hmmmmmmmmm not bad, I wonder if Sony will actually include a HD, it seems the next Gen race will be heating up shortly. |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
This battle is going to be a big one. Three very worthy contenders putting out what will prabably be some very awesome machines. It will difficult for those of us that can only justify having one.

Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
Blu-Ray! :D
|
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
very difficult, I plan to pick up at least 2 of the new ones, but do my homework first. Instead of complaining about game releases for one system I'd have all systems and just pick the game up instead of staying partial to one system.

Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
I probably won't be getting any of the new consoles. The GCN and PS2 will probably be the last console I buy for a very very long time.
I'm getting a job soon, and I'll be saving up money to buy an awesome computer for college, and that's what all of my gaming will be done on. However, I can't help but keep up with all the new stuff the consoles are going to be doing. :D I just thought of something: These Blu-Ray things have a LOT of space on them, right? Well, wouldnt it be possible to include a burner type mechanism inside the console, and when you want to save your game it just writes it to the CD? And it can even be doen in the same fashion CD-RW's are, so that you can write, delete, and rewrite things. It sounds perfectly logical to me. This way you combine the game and a memory card into one thing, and you don't need a harddrive |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
I'll probably stick with PS3 only, unless Nintendo releases a Pokemon RPG online game with voice communication where I can battle other trainers across the world.
But I highly doubt my demands will be answered, haha. |

but DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN....54 GB? wow, and to think, just 5 years ago, the Playstation used normal CDs. |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
I'll probably have to pass on the consoles for next gen.
After I buy a spanking new PC and start worrying about my tuition, I doubt I'll be purchasing a 500 buck machine. Besides, I'm sure a lot of people will have one or the other in their dorms. But honestly, I don't feel like plopping down half a grand for a console and then realise that it only has 1/3 of the games that I truly want to play. It happened this gen and i'm going to remedy it next gen by not buying a console at all. I don't use my cube anyway. Am I the only one who can't stand not being able to play the killer games on other systems? I want to play GTA: SA but I can't. I could get a ps2, but it'd be a waste of money cuz I'd never use it besideds one or two games. But, halo 2. this is why i want nintendo and micro to merge. **** i hate talking about this stuff anyway. So much easier if I just ignore the details in the gaming community. |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
If anything I would go for the PS3, because i am a (*sigh*) Loyal fan to Sony, and it will no doubt be backwards compatable. And thats big for me.
But i dont know.....I will have to see all the next gen systems, graphics, prices, games line-up, and things like that. |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
Sony has earned brand preference loyalty from myself as a consumer. I go to them first, but if they dont have what I want, I go elsewhere. The quality of my TV, surround sound system, CD player, PS2 and customer service has done it. Smart company, terrific marketing. And their products appeal to me...
On the other hand, in the slim chance of the PS3 NOT being a quality product, I wouldnt buy it. |
Fanboy!

i find that usually works the opposite way. Once you get a job, and find you get all that money every week, then you start to think, hey, buying a new console is only going to set my savings back 1 week. so why the hell not. but smart move for a gaming computer :) especially with a good internet connection. myself, im done with nintendo. i can see clearly that they wont change for the next gen. Sony will prolly be the only one i pick up. I have doubts about MS with the rumors saying they wont have a HD, IMO the HD is going to be very important next gen with the online games. But have to see what happens. right now tho, looks as if i'd only pick up a PS3. |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
The new GCN Zelda should prove what Nintendo is capable of. The sales will prove that this is what the people want. Hopefully Ninty will take a more... serious direction with the Revolution.

When I first came to Nintendose, I was a Nintendo fan. I didnt have blind loyalty to any company. Sony won me over with PS2 and its WEGA TV line. Plus the sales clerk who sold me the TV was one of the nicest people I've ever met. And that's how marketing works... |

it'll be the first Nintendo console i wont buy, and i feel sad about that. but GC was the first nintendo console i've been truly dissapointed with, and i dont want to make that mistake again. |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
Well, Nintendo IS experimenting with the DS online...
I agree though that they're losing their touch. :( |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already

And its not really online persay, altho it can, its more of just networking, a network of DS's forming thier own network grid from one to another. |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
Nono I don't mean the warppipe guys, Nintendo is planning to make online games in the future...
|
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already

what im saying is nintendo themselves didnt make the DS online compatable. they HIRED the warp pipe guys to create that to put in the DS for em, or at least help them out with it. When you buy a game on DS that is able to play on the online/network mode. your going to see a warp pipe logo on the bottom corner of the game box. At least thats what i've read. |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
Ah ok, sorry then, that is news to me. :)

Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
I can see where Null is coming from. The GC was very disappointing. It had some great games which probably will remain some of my favourites, but I mean.........if you go to EB and see the games there, it's just.....wrong.
Haven't touched my consoles in a while though as I've been too busy. I dunno if I'm going to buy the Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft consoles next gen round, or the hand helds. Knowing me I'll still end up owning all of em :) but I'm disappointed overall with Nintendo. PS2 hands down has so much to offer over the competition (IMO). Xbox was ok, it did have it's fair share of games as well. |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
GC can't be dissapointing, it has analog shoulder buttons with an extra digital click! Surely it has revolutionized how we control games...
|
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
Quote:
and not to mention an over sized A button, cuz thats the button we use most! ......... and the nipple stick. :p |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
I actually like their controller. :( More than those of the PS2 and XBox.
Nintendo relied too much on sequels of N64 games. And on their kiddy games that aren't really kiddy, but happy. |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
Quote:
And then the controller is revealed and the only new thing they added was a digital click to the analog buttons... But of course Nintendo fans ate it up... And nowadays I sometimes forget it's there... Because it serves no extra purpose in most games... Except to make a noise when I push it down... |
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
^^^^ a revolutionary noise that changes the way we, as gamers, view the industry
|
Re: A little Ps3 info that you probadly knew already
the GC controller was a poor design, nintendo has a problem designing a controller around a couple games that they're currently working on. then for other games the controller sucks for. like nintendo never even considered thoes types of games.
the PS2 controller hasnt changed for more reasons then just the backwards compatability, it hasnt changed because theres no reason to change everything. its setup works for every game type. and is the most copied design of any controller. other controllers added the duel analogs, and pc controllers are built as almost an exact double of the PS2 controller. |

the Gamecube controller gives me more confidence as a person, and gives me opportunities I would otherwise have only dreamt about...
