Hey Bond... how the NUMBER of units sold.
Microsoft said that they'll be satisfied if they sell 250,000 at launch. |
Bond, this is what I see when I look at your post, I wonder if everyone else sees this or something different:
![]() |
That's what I get too... looks rather f@cked up.
But how MANY X-Box were sold?? |
I don't have a clue why it shows up like that, it's all normal for me. Sorry. :(
Quote:
But by the sales number of the Xbox videogames, the Xbox must have sold fairly well. |
I dunno.. the chart doesn't say.
|
Quote:
But 250,000 at launch... that's BAD!! I bet they will have shortages in Japan... I mean X-Box isn't going to sell well in Japan but it can certainly sell more than 250,000 at launch. |

Hmm well according to this x-Box isn't doing too bad in Japan. Seems that DOA 3 is the system seller over there....
Just want to see the launch figures now...... |
It's funny how all the peeps I used to debate with are gone now... and it's sad that all the old posts are gone now... cause I sure as hell would be digging up old topics as we speak.

Anyways, does anyone have the stats for Xbox sales? |

I know, I can wait.. :D |
Regardless of what the numbers turn out to be, I don't think selling software faster than the GameCube is really anything to brag about. Has anybody seen how fast software on the GameCube is going at this time of year? These relative sales values aren't anymore significant than the fact that Amazon Japan sold out of an undetermined number of pre-orders.
|
Well currently this would allow Gamecube second place. Because if you total the sales of both regions for each GC has more. I know, "Xbox was just released". Well MS dosnt really have an excuse there, they released it late. Nintendo had released 2 by november...even though you had to wait an extra year:sneaky:
|
Well I don't think anybody has posted this yet maybe...
Microsoft sold a little under half of their initial shipment on launch day... http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories...850330,00.html "According to Bloomberg, Microsoft sold approximately 123,000 Xbox units during the console's Japanese launch this past weekend." "1 GCN Animal Leader Nintendo Co. ACT 2002/2/21 2 GCN Animal Forest + Nintendo Co. ETC 2001/12/14 3 PS2 Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII SLG 2002/2/14 4 PS2 Samurai Spike AVG 2002/2/7 5 XB Dead Or Alive 3 Tecmo FIG 2002/2/22 6 PS2 Grandia II Enix RPG 2002/2/21 7 GBA Unknown Japanese Game Nintendo Co. ACT 2001/12/14 8 GCN Sonic Adventure 2 Battle Sega ACT 2001/12/20 9 GCN Super Smash Bros. Melee Nintendo Co. ACT 2001/11/21 10 GC Pikmin Nintendo Co. ETC 2001/10/26" Those sales seem a bit more reasonable to me... "Twelve games were available at launch, but only an average of 1.59 games were actually sold with each console." |
I love those stats.. 1.59
Hey, I got an Xbox and 1 and a half games! |
Hey Shooter, can I have 0.25 of Dead or Alive 3? I don't want any of the gameplay or cinematics or anything like that. I just want jiggling breasts. :D
*runs away from XBox fans* I'm kidding! I'm kiiiiiiddiiiiing!!! *jumps into his trash can* |
*begins beating trashcan with 2x4*
I know you're in there!! *continues beating trashcan* Wait a second... I didn't like DOA3 very much either. *walks away in confusion* |
![]() You heat Xantar's trashcan.. you're in for it now :p |

anyway, Nintendo has had 6 months in Japan, and 3 months in America Xbox has had 3 months in America and less than a Week in Japan... EXTREMELY unfair comparision. and if you think about it, Nintedno launched in Japan in the Fall time (fastest selling season of the year), while Microsoft launched in q1 (slowest selling time of the year), so that makes it even more unfair to compare launch stats... |
Not to mention that the X-Box isn't exactly a cheap console.
|
No system is cheap when it first comes out.
|
Quote:
200 dollars for the GCN is a lot less than 300 dollars for the X-Box... A system with a low price tag appeals to kids, and mainstream so believe me for a expensive console X-Box is doing pretty well. |
Yeah, its a lower price until you start buying all the peripherals both the GC and PS2 need to compare with what the XBox already comes with.
The added cost of memory cards alone added into my choice of which next generation console I'd get first. But then again I'm neither a kid nor a parent buying a console for a kid, and I doubt those added costs come into it when they decide to buy a system. |
I did a post at another forum a while back that had the prices of every system, 2 games, and extra controller, and a memory card.
I don't have the post anymore, but PS2 was the most expensive, then Xbox, then NGC.. and so on.. |
Well I hope you didn't add a memory card to the XBox price, because it doesn't need one. Also, I'd double up the memory cards for the GC since they have far less memory than the PS2 memory cards. I think that would be a more accurate price comaprison.
I'll leave the internet connectivity out of it since so few consumers have broadband at the moment. |
Quote:
The HD alone costs 150 dollars for the PS2. And GCN might be 100 dollars cheaper but it doesn't have a DVD and HD. Also the X-Box's DVD is a LOT better than PS2s. PS2 is also expensive because you need 30 dollars for a multitap. EDIT: Microsoft is losing 150 dollars per console, Sony is losing like 70, and Nintendo is losing like 45. X-Box is a better bargain for your money. |
Quote:
1. DVD player. 2. Built in hard drive. 3. Ethernet port. |
Quote:
So, you're paing $150 extra for a low qualit DVD player w/ a remote, a tiny 8 gig hard drive, and an ethernet card. |
Quote:
for Gamecube to = Xbox, feature wise, you would need to buy 16,000 memory Cards, a whole seperate DVD/CD player, and some impossible stuff to upgrade the preformance of Gamecube. oh, and if it wants to equal Xbox on one game technically, you would need 6 Gamecube disks IMO, Xbox is a bargan |
The DVD player is decent. A LOT better than the PS2 DVD. If you were to go out and get one of that quality by itself it would cost you $100 by itself. The remote is $30 not $50. It has better graphics. Better sound (Dolby 5.1 in game). Better, well just about everything. The HD allows it to play games that can't be played on any other system.
MS is selling the XBox for a whole lot less than it costs to make it. So I think I would call that a deal. |
Xbox is worth the money
I would buy one, but I don't have the money at the moment I mean, I could get 6 PS2 games instead of buying JUST an XBox...I'll wait until I get a job to buy another system... |
