Re: your fantasy prez and v.p.
I can't for the life of me figure out what anyone sees in Dean.
Kerry I can see as President Leiberman I can see as President Even Gephardt I can see as President Dean I can see as an a$$hole boss who eventually gets fired for groping his secretary at the office Christmas party and then blaming her when he's caught. Oh, and I don't think Edwards could spell "potatoe" if he had a dictionary in front of him, so I see him as a Vice President. :) Stonecutter, you're right. I would switch McCain to Pres and Powell to Vice. |

And now that we are clear on my point, its time for you to explain to me exactly what makes Dean a great presidential candidate. And nothing with the term's "Bush" or "current administration" will be accepted as logical reasoning. |

These questions: Why is it simply not enough that I or anyone else agree with him on the major issues? Why do you insist on grilling every democrat on why they support who they support. For someone who claims to be "conservative but not a republican" (which is total bull****, you're just a republican with a guilty conscience, I used to be one too, I know your game first hand,) you sure seem to have a higher opinion of people who will vote for bush. There are several things that I see in Dean, but none that I can file under the heading of "these are my political views and they're different from yours." Such as: 1) Dean is not a warhawk. I'm not going to turn this into a "the Iraq war was/was not the right thing to do" debate, I didn't want the United States to go to war, George Bush took them to war, Howard Dean would not have. Kerry, Clark and Edwards (I think) did not start taking a hard anti-war stance until they started chasing Dean. 2) Dean values a woman's right to choose. 3) Dean has a conservationist stance on the environment. 4)Dean will roll back the tax cut. I'm no expert on the tax cut, but you cannot possibly believe that we're not going to touch social security, we're going to lower prescription drug costs, we're going to fund a war in Iraq, a war in Afghanistan, build a base on the moon, improve education, AND lower taxes. Even with Clinton administration taxes you couldn't do all of that. If you're wealthy and you don't give a **** about the lower classes then more power to you, vote for Bush, I'm not going to stop you, I'll even agree with your reasoning, no matter how wrong I think your beliefs are, but it doesn't make mine wrong, So basically, I've looked at Dean's stances on the issues, and outside of Kusinich, I agree with him more than any other Democrat. Also, Deep down, you must know that the “Dean would be a bad president because he can't control his temper” argument is about as intelligent as the “Bush is a dumbass” argument. |
Re: your fantasy prez and v.p.
Now that was a great post. I don't agree with you on many points, but at least I know why you support him outside of "he's not Bush".
As for the temper, it means a lot of things, including his ability to work with other people which is extremely important as a president. But I don't dislike Dean because of his temper, even though that is what will lose him the nomination. I don't like him because I do not trust him with out national security in the least, he has absolutely no experience in working with foreign policy, and I've heard more about what he wouldn't have done as president over the last 4 years than what he plans to do as president for the next 4. And please stop with the "Republicans don't care about poor people" schtick. I believe that the best thing we could do for poor people is get the economy going again so that more jobs will be created through commerce, and not acts of government. While not many jobs have been created so far even though the economy has rebounded, I do think that they will follow soon. It only makes sense. I might be wrong but then 200 years of American economy would be left with an unoprecedented void of jobs in a thriving economy. I do thank you for your post though, but I do think that my explanation of my comment about Dean was more than adequate. But that just my opinion. |
Re: your fantasy prez and v.p.
I had a great response to the other thread too, but my comp crashed. I don't feel like retyping it tonight.
