The winner of survivor will also gain a large but as yet undetermined reputation boost. Other survivors will gain reputation in lesser amounts based on the order in which they were cast out.

I'm not blaming anything on him. I'm just saying he's foolish to not log on during the challenge or the voting but only show up right after he got voted out.
