The 2004 NFL playoff thread

Ok, anyone who wants in, get in now, here's what we're going to do.

You pick every team in the playoffs, rank them 12 to 1

Every time that team wins, you get the number of points that you assigned to the team.

Obviously, 4 teams will lose the first weekend, it's your goal to make these 4 teams your 4, 3, 2, 1. Beyond that, get creative. A team that plays the first weekend would win four games to win the superbowl, but would still win three just to make it to the superbowl, where as a team with a bye can only possibly win 3 games, so you'll want to consider that as you rank your teams.

Here are my final picks

12New England
11Philadelphia
10Tennessee
9Kansas City
8Green Bay
7Dallas
6St Louis
5Indy
4Baltimore
3Denver
2Carolina
1Seattle

WOOHOO The Cowboys are done! So far, the Titans have beaten the Ravens, and the Panthers have beaten the Cowboys.

Titains 20 - Ravens 17
Panthers 29 - Cowboys 10

Eh, The Cowboys being done isn't necessarily a good thing for the Eagles. I would have much rather played them then the Packers...so, go Seahawks.

Yes, I know that, but it's still good to see the Cowboys out of it, because they're the Cowboys. But I would have rather them win so the Eagles could play them rather than the Packers, or Seahawks.

You get tennessee for 10 since you listed philly twice.

Jason, you get GB for 5 and CAR for 4. That's the numbers you put down but you mixed up the order. I don't know what you wanted, but that's what you're getting. Jason also gets indy for 8 as he listed St Louis twice.

Good job.

Stonecutter 01-04-2004 02:10 AM

Re: The 2004 NFL playoff thread

Though Jason currently has the most points, Stu is in the best position as he was the only one to predict both a Tennessee and a Carolina win in the first weekend (by way of his having both the ravens and cowboys in his bottom 4.)

(Jason also had Dallas for 10, which is going to hurt him later on)

Tomorrow's games are of little significance in the short term, especially if green bay and indy both win, because everyone has both Denver and Seattle in their bottom 4. But if either should be upset, there are going to be a few people hurting (bond takes it on the chin big time if GB goes down.)

Peyton's a machine. MVP, PERFECT PASSER RATING IN THE PLAYOFFS VS. DENVER?

The Colts just raped the Broncos.

Bring on the Chiefs...best playoff scenario in a long time...some great matchups next week!!! :D

You've got 28 Jason.

Stu's in the drivers seat, not because he has the most points, but because he missed his 1,2,3,4. That's what's most important for this weekend.

Bond could use a shave.

Come to think of it, so could I.

That was an absolutly amazing show that the colts put on today I can't WAIT for next weeks game.

I'll post the updated point totals after the packers game, but if things stay the way they are now, Bond is in really, really good shape.

Re: The 2004 NFL playoff thread

EAGLES WIN!!!! I actually believed in them the whole game, and if they lost..I wasn't going to be pissed, because they Packers would have deserved it. AMAZING 4th AND 26 PASS TO FREDDIE MITCHELL. That was so crazy! They came back, and then won it in OT, it was great, but VERY SUSPENSFUL. I'm so happy, and it's good that the Panthers are beat up too. I just don't think the Eagles can beat the Colts or the Patriots. :-\ Well, I can't wait till next week..maybe they'll make the Super Bowl this year, maybe not. And Bond, sorry for you that the Packers lost.

Perfect Stu 01-11-2004 09:00 PM

Re: The 2004 NFL playoff thread

holy crap, the Packers literally THREW IT AWAY.

That game shouldn't have even gone into OT...and then Favre throws a BIRD into the hands of an EAGLE. I'm disappointed...that's not how any team should lose, let alone in OT in the PLAYOFFS.

Ah well, it looks like I'm kicking ass in the pool, unless someone else has similar picks.

Perfect Stu 01-11-2004 09:03 PM

39 points this week, 70 total points

Stonecutter 01-11-2004 09:35 PM

Re: The 2004 NFL playoff thread

First number is total points after the divisional round, second number is the maximium possible points.

Stonecutter 55 90
Bond 64 96
Joeiss 49 71
Stu 70 105
Germy 59 94
Jason 71 94

Needless to say, carolina killed me, and GB killed Bond and Joeiss......... well, better luck next year.

The Germanator 01-11-2004 10:20 PM

Re: The 2004 NFL playoff thread

Wow, that game was great...just great. I was giving the game to the Packers before the 4th and 26...No way were the Eagles going to pull that one of. To be honest, in the end, I was rooting as much for the Packers to lose as for the Eagles to win. I knew if the Packers won another OT game, that the bull**** destiny, dead dad talk is all I'd hear for a week, it would have pissed me off...I'm glad that Sherman didn't have the confidence to run on that 4th and 1, despite the fact that the Packers were running ALL OVER the Eagles D. And thanks to Brett Favre for throwing what looked like a punt to Brian Dawkins in OT. I'll take on Carolina any day with a beat up Stephen Davis, plus we've already beaten them. Though I'm pissed because I may not be able to even watch the game, but whatever....Fly Eagles fly.

I don't see how Jason could have more points than me...I think he must have 61 as opposed to 71

Hmmmm...I would check that myself, but I dont want to.

I wonder if my maximum points thing is correct also...whatever.

Re: The 2004 NFL playoff thread

I had 61 on my spreadsheet, I just typed 71 when I was putting it onto the forums. The sheet is correct. After the Superbowl you guys can scrutinize it all you want, it's not like we actually have money on it.

ZebraRampage 01-15-2004 04:42 PM

Re: The 2004 NFL playoff thread

So, what do you people think? Colts vs. New England, and Panthers vs. Eagles. Who's going to the Super Bowl. My picks are Philadelphia, and hmm...it all depends on New England's offense, because I know they have a good enough defense to stop the Colts on some drives, it's just, if their offense doesn't show up, then the Colts will most likely win. My pick is still New England though.
