Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
Read the IGN review, they love it. http://cube.ign.com/articles/458/458726p1.html
It looks like the realistic Zelda game we never got! The swordplay sound wunderbar and the graphics are great! :D This is currently no. 1 on my have-to-buy-list. :camfu: 10.0 PresentationThis is the perfect realization of the franchise in 3D. Slick menus combined with crispy clean FMVs, in-game storytelling and lots of great, nostalgic extras for the ultimate Prince experience. 9.0 Graphics Stunning. Gorgeous. Beautiful. Stretching architecture, unparalleled animation and ambient environments. Very rare framerate hitches and a sometimes cumbersome combat camera. Otherwise, a showpiece. 8.0 Sound Atmospheric, fitting music, clear and thumping sound effects. Unfortunately compressed dialogue on GameCube. Runs in full surround. 9.0 Gameplay Spectacularly intuitive, fun, challenging, and extremely satisfying. The only flaw -- if it can be called that -- is that combat is not quite as refined as the rest of the game. 9.0 Lasting Appeal The game delivers a respectable sized single-player quest and when it's over, you can always toy around with the original POP, which is also included. 9.6 OVERALL: BTW why does my explorer seize when I try to open Bobcats MK thread?? :( |
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
wow this game looks like it can make it in the long run
i hope i can get it (no money at the moment) |
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
I played the demo on the Xbox. It's about everything IGN says it is.
|
My god...I was kinda keeping my eye on this game...but woah! I dont think any of us were expecting that...I'll try to wait to get this one as a Christmas Present, but damn...Im not sure I'll be able to.

Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
You're right Angrist, this game rode my rim last night like there was no tomorrow. I'm a little sore but it was worth it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
Well if the game's that good I've gotta pick it up sometime...
PS2 or NGC version... hmmm *rubs chin* |
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass

The gamecube version has slightly more polishied visuals and a more stable framerate...but apparently all 3 games still look very similar. |
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
hmm, sounds like something that would be definately worth my time and money...
too bad I don't have either one |
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
Played it, beat it, good stuff.
Amazing visuals, it's any artist's dream. Play mechanics are some of the most stunning I've ever used. |
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
This game is going on my wish list.
|
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
DsH: The GCN version has a bit better graphics and it has Prince of Persia (the original) as a bonus (not sure if you have to hook up your AGB).
The PS2 version has better sound, or so I've heard. The XB version has even better graphics and Prince of Persia 2. Too much games to buy! :( |
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
I just bought it with my birthday money. I haven't played very far, only a little less than an hour into it, but its pretty good so far.
Anyone find it intersting that Ocarina of Time was a perfect incarnation of The Legend of Zelda series in 3D while The Sands of Time is the perfect incarnation of the Prince of Persia in 3D? I noticed that when reading about the Dagger of Time in the instruction manual... Anyway... *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
Yep, not often are 3D incarnations good games.

Edit: Hmm, so he is Angrist. I remember reading his "After 300 posts the Dutch guy returns" post, but I can't believe I didn't realize it was Angrist. Well, welcome back Angrist! |

Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
Wow, POP is stunning. For the first half hour or so, I wasnt very impressed, the graphics looked kinda dull, colorless at first, and the controls seemed slightly akward at the very start. But after about an hour, my view totally changed. This game is stunning from a level design perspective, control perspective, and the graphics really grew on me. Amazing stuff here. The camera is basically perfect, the controls ARE perfect. Get this game. Any way you can.

One thing thats been aggravating me since I got it: What's the hell is the purpose of clicking the "L" button to slow down time??? All Ive ever gotten from it is trouble because I'm trying to rewind and accidently slow down time. I dont really see where my advantage is, because Im moving just as slow as the bad guys are. But yeah, this is a great game, Im having a lot of fun with it...there's just something about it that doesnt make it stand out like it should. Ooh well. :-o |
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
I rented it a few weeks ago. I played it for a few hours, then didn't touch it again...not because I didn't like it, but because I didn't have time to play it (along with Rebel strike which I wish I wouldve at least beat). But oh well, in 6 months they will both be $20-$30 anyways so by then I can just buy them both and play when I feel like it.

Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
I got it for Christmas, I'm not very far into it, but it's been fun so far. I like it a lot.

Yea I feel the same way with the L button thing...I used it like once, it seemed stupid, and I never used it again...oh well. Wonderful game. |
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
uh i played the P.O.P. demo for the PS2 and it horribly sucked and then i played Metal Arms Glitch in the System which unbeliavabaly ruled for the X-Box Demo (of course im only a gamecube fan tho :D ) and uh i think thats it although i asmit the graffics were pretty good sry if u hate this reply.

Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
I just then beat POP a few minutes ago. All I can say is wow. That game really got awesome in the last half. I love it, one of my favorite games ever.
*spoiler* The ending kicked butt! :D it was great. The perfect ending, in my opinion, and so unexpected. Its also a little sad, because that girl has no idea of all that she went through, or would have went through rather, with the Prince. But I loved the way he used the magical word her grandmother had told her as his name. I was rather dissapointed that the Visier was so easily defeated, but the Special Features more than make up for any doubts and let downs I had. I loved the "making of the palace" feature. It was so perfectly planned out, the place is an artistic and architectural masterpiece. Everything about it is perfect and proportionate, and it flows smoothly from one part of the palace to the next, so you actually feel like your in the palace. Im going to replay this thing again soon, and this time I wont miss the part where you earn POP 1. */end spoiler* |

This guy is only trying to diss every game that we talk about. Just ignore him...
|
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
I plan on ignoring him, I thought the game was plenty of fun. Way more difficult than the old game I played on the computer sooo many years ago.
|
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
I cant wait for POP2. POP was really the best game of 2003, IMO.
|
Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
PoP2 is too violent for my innocent soul I'm afraid. :(
Not that I haven't played something like it, but I just don't want those violent games anymore... |

Re: Prince of Persia Rules both the time and your ass
PoP was one of the greatest games I have ever played. Ever. Great camera angle, great graphics, great everything. (wonder why I put camera angles first) I had only one complaint with it though, it seemed to short.
The second one looks fun as well. |
