Anybody get this game yet? I haven't... But I am thinking about picking it up maybe tomorrow or sometime this week. The commercials look amazing, and it has been getting rave reviews... So I think it is a must have this fall.

So, post your opinions on the game if you have any!

I'll be renting it, along with Viewitful Joe and Megaman X7. I'm a busy man!

But yeah, the game looks great, and its getting excellent scores. Can't wait to see whats so great about it.

I won't be getting this game since I just got Viewtiful Joe. Although I want to play it badly, I can't have every game I want.

Well, since the next title I am looking forward to comes out in November (SOCOMII), and NHL 2004 is a piece of crap, I decided that I will defitely be getting this game sometime this week.

I'll be getting the game (along with Jak and Daxter eventually, even though I beat it during a rental a ways back)... But not soon... I havn't finished Suikoden 3 and I just bought Tony Hawk 4 and Kingdom Hearts...

Ah the wonders of job-life...

The game does look awesome though...

I may buy this :D

As long as it's nothing like Ratchet and Clank. I liked the original Jak too :D

Well, I just got back from EB and they told me that the game isn't coming out until 3 more days.. Stupid IGN and their earlier reviews.. lol.

Weird. Tuesday is almost always New Game Release Day (at EB and maybe a few other stores). But maybe there was a shipping problem......

Tuesday is the SHIPPING day... Around here stores like EB and Gamestop don't get theirs in until Wednsday, and Best Buy and the like don't get it in until Thursday or so...

1) I'll be picking up Jak 2 by the end of the month. I'll probably go pick it up when SSX3 comes out (along with SSX3 ;))

The game comes in tomorrow at my local video game rental store. Sweet.

I have many complaints.

The levels are dull and uninteresting. The lighting is severly lacking or non existant (can't remember now). It gets very repetitive (not the fun kind of repetitive, but the boring kind). The amount of weapons is good, but most of them I found once again uninteresting . I like the weapon where those mini robots attack.

It just didn't interest me. I'd like to say it did, but it didn't. I still have it, and nobody wants to buy it from me :(

I know usually Tuesday is a shipping day (although lately it seems that Nintendo ships games on a Monday and EB gets them on a Tuesday) but when Joeiss posted yesterday (Tuesday) that the game wasnt going to be in for 3 more days, all I said was that its weird that he has to wait until Friday to get it.

So I know which day is the shipping day for a game and which day is the "selling/release" day for a game.

Ah yes, Jak 2 has arrived. I played it for about 2 and a half hours straight. Lots of good stuff, very hard to put down. I got frustrated with one mission, so I decided to play Megeman X7 (good game, but TERRIBLE voice acting, bleh).

I'm quite impressed with this game. Lots of fun.

I just picked the game up too! It is great. It turns out that they weren't getting the game in on Friday, lol... Stupid new employees.

The game is really fun, and I like how the world it big. Driving is great, and I love weaving in and out of traffic (both side to side and up to down). Very fun. Just don't piss off those guards!

I'm 5% complete! Oh yea, you can't stop this, lol.

Me too...same story, store got it in like 5 minutes before I called. The game is gorgeous, eh? The animations (especially in the cutscenes) are amazing. Voice acting is very good, the story is pretty generic right now, but there are a few interesting characters that haven't really been introduced yet that I'm looking forward to. Love Jak's attitude, love Daxter's humour. Perfect combo there...gameplay is good so far, the city isn't as bad as some reviewers claimed it is.

The city is alright, nothing special. I'm really enjoying the game though.. I am gonna play it in a couple mins... I wanna get about 15% done by the end of tonight. ;)

And on that note, boy does this b*tch get big. It's hard not to get lost in it sometimes, when the later areas open up. The size and detail of the city really impresses me.

I am 13% done, and the city is allready huge. It takes me a good coule of minutes to get from one side to the other... And I haven't even opened up the yellow zone yet!

Holy crap, I just finished playing a few more hours of the game, and I've seen some AMAZING levels, hot damn. And the city just keeps getting bigger, it is by far the biggest, most detailed city I've ever seen in a video game, its just so damn huge!

I am soo tired, and I have to work at 6:30 am tomorrow.. But I think I am going to play an hour or two of this game tonight, lol... It's just too good!

And holy... I had a crazy hovercraft jacking experience... I was like hopping from craft to craft... and then I was speeding, and i hopped onto a craft that was going the opposite direction!!! It was spectacular.

Jesus Christ, this game gets extremely hard. I went to the port on whim to check out some item there, and after I pick it up, the entire military comes after me, now I have to escape the port without dying, which is so unbelievably impossible, its pissing me the hell off.

I'm 2 and a half hours in, and I think the game is GREAT! Driving around the city (which was one of the few complaints amongst most reviewers) is a lot of fun IMO...swirving left and right, but more importantly (and more fun) hovering up and down. But the game really shines when you're controlling Jak. Control is spot on...fluid, responsive. The level design has been great so far...I love the variety of moves you need to use...and I only have one weapon upgrade, one Dark Jak upgrade and no hoverboard. Timing and positioning in jumps is crucial...which has always been the key in platform games...so this game, although straying into completely new genres from a typical platform game, remains one in structure.

Difficulty has been ok so far...but I hear it really really really gets tough. As long as I'm eventually able to beat the game, it's fine by me. Much more rewarding that way.

Looking forward to the rest of the game...looking forward to Ratchet and Clank 2. PS2 is the place for platformers/action games...

My impressions of this game so far are very good. I'm starting to figure my way around the entire city (which is unbelievably massive) and I just can't get over how detailed it is. If you jump into the food stands in the market square with your hoverboard, fruit flies out all over the ground, and if guards are chasing you, they sometimes slip on the fruit. Naughty Dog has outdone themselves, I really can see no flaws in this game, it does everything its suppose to do, and it does it marvelously.

You make a good point. It's really quite amazing how deep this game is...how detailed. And with all of these details, there are very little flaws...

UPDATED IMPRESSIONS

I just stopped after the fat guy gave me the GREEN security pass for the stadium area.

OH MY GOD.

The city keeps getting bigger and bigger. It's insane...and the quest for the 3 artifacts for that parrot (he's hilarious btw..."My name...is Pecker" :lol: ) was a lot of fun...the falling rocks part was genious.

The game keeps impressing me, even though I have a couple other AAA games on the go (SSX3, Tiger Woods)...simply stunning.

If I had to give the game an early score, it would be in the 9.2-9.5 range...and I don't hand out great scores like that very often.

Yeah, I am 23% complete.. It is great. I think that I have all of the city opened up, unless there are some more little parts to it. yep... it's really really fun.

I beat the game a little while ago. Took me a total of 17 and a half hours. Good stuff.

I really want to play this game...

Do I have to beat the Jak and Daxter first before playing Jak II? Also, what's this Grand Theft Auto thing in this game? I heard the city is huge, but can you go around and freely roam the city while stealing cars and killing pople?

DM said he beat the game in 17 hours, that's pretty short... Are there any extras?

Most games like this are generally short (that can differ on opinion though, but for the RPG people like me and you, 17 hours is a weekend rental). It's actually quite long for a game like this, I had to put in a whole bunch of playing to complete it in time.

And yeah, there are extras, not side quests or anything, but if you collect all these precursor eggs, you get secrets, like Big Head mode, Invicibility, etc.

No, you don't have to beat Jak and Daxter before playing. In fact it's completely unecessary.

Yes you can freely roam the city, killing and stealing all you want.
