Best FF

I personally go with seven, great materia method, great gameplay, AMAZING story, and damn near impossible sidequests if you don't know waht your doin (ruby/emerald weapons)

10 because it's the only one I beat :p

and the only other one I played (for more than 2hrs) was the SNES one... it was ok. Isn't close to FFX though.

TheSlyMoogle 07-28-2003 02:56 AM

FF6 baby! Great story! Cool sidequests and items. Cool characters (Go Mog!) Props for the many summons. Props for a main Character who is female. Props for having a main villain who is the only final boss I hate!

Crono 07-28-2003 11:46 AM

Well, for me it's sort of a tie between FF6 and FF7, but seeing as I only beat 7 out of the two, I voted for that.

for me it's a tie between 7, 8 & 10...i've beaten 7 & 8; 10 i got somewhat to the end...

i liked the battle system in 10, i liked the materia system in 7, in FF8 i liked the junctioning system and the GF learning system...so i didn''t vote...

IX was my favorite. I loved the characters, the battle system, the story, etc. It's the one I had most fun playing. I also thought Kuja was cool :p

lol, X????

graphically it was amazing, but in every other aspect it was crap in IMO :D, its just that the lack of the world map didn't feel right, it just made the story line much too rigid. That and you didn't get to fly any cool ships around, or ride chocobos and such. As for the blitzball, meh, wasn't nearly as good as it coulda been, controls suck IMO

Ginkasa 07-28-2003 03:18 PM

IX definetely. The best, most memorable characters (Vivi = awesome); colorful fantasy settings (fantasy beats sci-fi anyday); and a pretty neat story to boot. The only con about it is the summoning system, although that one's still better than VIII's.

I liked the character development and overall "feel".

magus113 07-28-2003 04:21 PM

Eight definintely.

I think that Edea and Ultimecia were excellent villains including the facts that they were both women, except for Kefka, Kuja, (although he can blow your ass up in a millisecond so hes kinda cool in his own way), and Seymour. :gay:

I liked the story. I liked the whole thing with the salary too. It helped me out a very good times. Squall + Leonhart = major Ass kicking.

The only flaw for me was the magic drawing system. The GF system was ok too.

VIII would be a close second for me. Squall is one of my favorite characters.

Ginkasa 07-28-2003 09:50 PM

VIII, IMO, places right at very bottom, right under II (the actual II, not IV). The GF and junction systems just sucked and "drawing" magic from enemies being the only way to get it is the worst idea ever. And I thought Squall was just horrible as a hero. The whole "I'm only saving the world because I'm getting paid" only works for muscle-bound action heroes who run into a room with guns flying IMO, not some depressed teen who would probably be happier dead.

As for II, I just think the "levelling up" system was implemented wrong. It was a good idea, and realistic (at least more so than actually levelling up), I think they just didn't do it right and ended up making the game not nearly as good as it could have been.

¦¬Þ And the funny coincidence is... I disliked IX most.

Can't fly a ship around? Can't ride Chocobos? You must have not played much of the game... because I distinctly remember riding a chocobo and flying in the Airship.

A riggid story? Please explain that...

Blitzball did suck... that's about all I can agree with you on.

the story was VERY linear....i mean you can't go directly from one town to another, you have to traverse the entire damn game to get back to some place b4...as for flying the airship...you didn't actually get to FLY it.... you were just in it while it flew somewhere, and maybe i'm wrong aboot the chocobos... i didn't finish the game, but i came fairly close tho

Ginkasa 07-29-2003 02:26 PM

There is one part I guess around half-way through the game where you ride a Chocobo through this short road. Then, later, you can train Chocobos with these little mini games. Chocobos are there, just not as obvious as past games.

He wasn't really just saving the world because he was getting payed to do it! He was saving the world because he had to. He was saving it because he was the one wrapped up in all of the things that was going to destroy it. And he was saving it to save Rinoa too. SEED was created to destroy the sorceress, the issue of getting payed never really comes up after like halfway through disk two.

what part did you get to? I mean, if you didn't see the chocobos you couldn't have been that close to the end.

as for the 'linear' story.. I don't follow you... what are you trying to say? I mean, just because you can't jump back to old areas at any point in the game it doesn't take anything away from the story imo. Also, once you beat the game you can go back anywhere easilly.

Not being able to turn back only added to the effect of the story imo. Without givning much away, most of the story turning around only seemed pointless and stupid.

that actually describes the cloud/FFVII hero much more than Squall, and its true, the levelling up system made the game MUCH to easy to reach lvl 100, and GFs had much too much of an impact on the gameplay, i mean honestly, you only have TWO chances the get the best ones in the game, and then if you don't get them, u'r pretty much screwed, as in u just miss SO much from the game.

Ahh! I thought GFs were great. Besides it's like that in all GFs pretty much you miss your chance to get a lot of things. What was so wrong with drawing spells from monsters? I thought it was great. Oh well perhaps I'm wrong. I spent so much time on that game.

I thought blitzball was great. I only made it to luca in that game, but when I was there I spent every dime on recruiting players. I loved that minigame.

My vote went to Tactics. I cant believe I'm the only one to choose it. Tactics is so good. Its the only one I've actually beat, but I have played a lot of VII and VIII, and some of X. It had a brilliant story that kept you on the edge of your seat. After each story battle, something would happen that I had no idea was going to. And with all the jobs, and the great tactical battle system, God, whats not to like? It was so much fun. Not to mention you could earn Cloud to play as, and you could even earn the legendary Beowolf!!!! =-D Too cool for mere words to do this game justice.
