F-Zero to Feature LAN Support

http://cube.ign.com/articles/427/427552p1.html

Why Nintendo didn't bother announcing this at e3 is beyond me as F-Zero was one of their best games on display, but eh.

Great, now me and my group of friends who consist of more than four people can all have fun simaltaneously! :)

BreakABone 07-07-2003 11:47 PM

In a bit of confusing news, IGN has updated the story saying it was a mistake on their sources behalf, I hope this whole thing gets cleared up soon.

No, it means you can play it online.

GameKinG 07-08-2003 01:31 AM

LAN (local area network) is meant for a group of freinds to play on different gamecubes and TVs. The internet is just an added bonus that gamespy has given.

Seth 07-08-2003 01:47 AM

YESSSS!!!

Seth 07-08-2003 02:37 AM

****.

Sega made a correction statement. No LAN.

**** **** ****

GameKinG 07-08-2003 03:13 AM

oh well, no different than it was an hour before the statement, and I was happy with it before the rumored lan...

Re: F-Zero to Feature LAN Support

Damn, I was hoping there would be LAN. It would be even more fun then it already is if there was 4 or 8 'Cubes linked up.

Re: F-Zero to Feature LAN Support

4 Gamecubes, sure.

But 8 Gamecubes, that's just downright inconvenient.

Unless you're rich and you have a large room with 8 T.V.s right beside one another.

OR YOU PLAY IT ONLINE!

Jesus, don't you understand what I'm talking about?

Lan play is as close as you're ever going to get in a first party nintendo game. No Lan is a HUGE loss.

Re: F-Zero to Feature LAN Support

Are you suggesting that somewhere out there, lurks software that would allow me to play this game online with friends?

GameKinG 07-08-2003 09:06 PM

No LaN isnt a huge a loss, it wasnt even a gain to begin with. Many games can be fun (dare I say more fun) offline. Now LAN would be nice, a perk, but I dont think it should be the justification in a purchase or not.

i think that it is a pretty big loss, LAN is much easier than internet play, not to mention faster. Its also quite a bit more fun if you know who your playing with, and seeing the look on their face when you beat them by a millimetre. The only downside to LAN is that all the members must have both the game and the system, which sucks in my opinion, it would be great if there was some way to create a way to play so that each of the four screens were on different tvs.

This isn't to say that single player / offline can't be fun, i know plenty of games that are fun both on and offline (halflife for example), but once you beat a game in single player, its much more fun to play friends than just go through the storyline over again.

GameKinG, would you purchase a game like mortal Kombat if it didn't have 2 player??? or would you be more inclined to buy HALO for xbox if it had multiplayer? thats just IMO, but i think that the loss of LAN really disappointed sum ppl

If you build it, they will come.

GameKinG 07-09-2003 12:56 AM

Well, F-zero has never been much of a multiplayer game, and was really a focus on the single player mode. The original didnt have any multiplayer, F-zero X's wasnt mind-blowing. F-zero GX is a big step for the series multiplayer wise, yet still promises what has made this game stand out in the past, which is a great single player.

SO WHAT!

Raise your expectations people!

Jesus christ, just because F-Zero isn't known for multiplayer doesn't mean you should just give it an automatic pass.

Why are you settling?

Expect more from your games!

GameKinG 07-09-2003 02:40 AM

I had high expectations, and f-zero has passed them by far. Its lapped them.

F-Zero X had great multiplayer! :D:D Just too bad that my friends think it's a 'kiddy' game :(

I agree it did have a great multiplayer. Looks like your friends have missed out there. My friends liked it so we had a great time playing it.

Re: F-Zero to Feature LAN Support

the new f zero looks promising as a single player game with things we have come to expect from all our racing games, we get garages, the ability to buy parts, etc... my favorite features in previous racing games was the ability to soup up my car like mad, and judging by the newest batch of screenshots, it looks like we finally have it. Its a shame we dont get the multiplayer focus though, as multiplayer games are the reason why i love my cube so much.

GameKinG 07-10-2003 01:28 PM

well you still get what IGN calls an "expansive multiplayer mode"
