Acclaim to Drop GameCube Support
Quote:
I really don't think that Acclaim made that many outsanding games for the GameCube in anycase. |
Re: Acclaim to Drop GameCube Support
I don't think Acclaim has made any outstanding games for any system. Most of their games are multiplatform, and complete crap. For some reason, I don't think Acclaim will be missed.

Agreed. |
Re: Acclaim to Drop GameCube Support
They might not be missed by educated gamers, but they are a massive developer that makes games that people do buy. We might not miss Acclaim, but I think Nintendo will.

Re: Acclaim to Drop GameCube Support
Hey at least in the future if Acclaim wants to try crawling back to Nintendo, Nintendo could say something like "Remember X years ago and what you said? What are you going to do to let us say yes, we'll let you develop games for X system?" (whatever the next gen system is)
*Sound familiar;) *cough Square* But I won't be missing Acclaim. All the games they've made for the 'Cube I never really liked or wanted. |

The damage from this development is more likely going to be the increased perception that GameCube is not the console for third party developers. That's not a trivial thing, but any developer dropping support would have the same effect. |
Re: Acclaim to Drop GameCube Support
Outside of the Xtreme G series this doesn't bother me in the slightest, or wouldn't bother me in the slighest if the cube were the only system that I owned.
|
I cant remember the last Acclaim game I enjoyed...Ive always hated the Turok series, and their sports games are garbage. This news dosent bother me.
|
Somebody, quick! I need a hug!
 |
3rd party games dont tend to sell best on cube when they are multiplatform, but I point the blame at Acclaim, their suport sucks as it is.

Re: Acclaim to Drop GameCube Support
Acclaim is dieing. Teh only thing that EVER came out of them was Turok I believe.
I'm not going to miss them |
Acclaim died 5 years ago in my honest opinion. They tried to make money off a game that has hookers having sex with thugs on bikes while doing tricks on bikes and watching two dogs hump eachother... :hmm:
So this is actually a good thing... Well, at least in my opinion. |
Re: Acclaim to Drop GameCube Support
Some games or no games from Acclaim. Won't make a difference to me. I don't think they can save themselves at all if they tried hard. Unless you get the license to the next big movie and hype the game up and then it fails to hold up to its claims. *cough*Atari
|
Does anybody actually buy any Acclaim games? I've never played an Acclaim game that didn't make me want to die after having played it.

Not just any movie could do what Enter The Matrix did, only a cult classic would sell that well. It's like if a Star wars game would have launched sided by side with the second movie (or episode 5 or w/e you want to call it). This game is almost on lock to sell maybe as good as Goldeneye on N64, and not for the game, for the licence. Acclaim would have to take the Matrix licence from Atari to save themselves :p |

Re: Acclaim to Drop GameCube Support
Ouch that sucks....
I do think the game is craptacular, I wouldn't suggest it to anybody who hasn't seen Matrix:Reloaded in the theaters... and/or isn't hopelessly in love with The Matrix. Not that it's the worst game I've ever played, but I'm extremely biased when it comes to the Matrix ;) |
Let's see...
Back in the day of the GLORIOUS SNES, Accliam made MK II, however sicne MIdway, NOT ACCLAIM now owns the lisence I no logner care. Thje last Acclaim Game I bought for a Nintendo System was ASB 2003, and honestly, I have to quote EGM's review of ASB 2004 on this one "It's fu to hit the bal;l, but in this game, you can't." Basically it was a let-down, now a "Tragic Loss" would be Konami, EA Games/Sports, or MIdway's MK Franchise, however, if Accliam winds up as the next "Square" than it'll REALLY thirst fans up for good titles, now that Square/Enix is doing FF: CC the fans are happy, and Nintendo seems to enjoy having them back, of course, Acclaim will not be missed nearly as much, in fact their loss may acutally be a good thing, the more games warming the shelves for the "Othere guy's" system, the better for Nintendo. Also, think for a second, how many of you really wanted to play BMX XXX? If I wanted an XXX Rated game, I'd go to a porbo shop, not Best Buy, or EB. I think losing Square was more of a tragedy than losing acclaim will be, and on that note, goodbye acclaim, come back again when you have some good games! Seriously I don't think I have anything from Acclaim that I enjoy around here since the SNES days, might have a 64 cart,m but that'd be it. |
bah, i wont miss em.
if it wasnt for this thread i wouldnt have even remembered they exist. this ma not be a bad thing but its not a good thing either, some people generally like acclaim which is unbeleivable in its own sense. in any case im gnna forget the exist again, atleast until someone makes another thread. |
