Full Spectrum Warrior

Wait... did someway say Halo 2? Who gives a crap. We have Full Spectrum Warrior!

New game developed by Pandemic Studios with help from the US Army, and published by THQ. Coming to Xbox in Q1 2004.

The game is a tactical, squad-based modern military shooter. It is taking squad based shooters to a whole new level. FSW will allow you to command troops like you never have before. Talking to a friend of mine who attended E3, and this game goes as far as allowing you to the different members of your squad cover a side of the building, or even cover specific doorways and windows, and from what I hear, all done beautifully on the Xbox controller. Step aside Ghost Recon ;)

The US Army has had a lot of input into this game. supposedly there's even plans to give this game to every member of the armed forces, and that means me :D This will allow the soldiers to still think strategically, even on their off time.

Aside from that, the game looks amazing. I'm shocked by what I see. I truly can't wait for this game to come out. And guess who's doing the voice for the trailer? My hero, R. Lee Ermey. OORAH!

looks like what I was hoping Ghost Recon would be. Very nice :D

TheGame 05-28-2003 05:42 PM

I think the concept is great, but the gameplay better be pretty damn good to smash Halo. Will the bot control be similar to PD's? Or do you control everybody Rainbow 6 style?

gekko 05-28-2003 05:56 PM

Everything I've heard about the game suggests a control setup that hasn't been done before. Allows a lot more control of the squad than any game before, and they somehow made it work well with the Xbox controller.

bah, spring 2004? :(

Now it has to compete with the likes of Halo, and even if it's a killer app it won't get much of the spotlight.

gekko 06-17-2003 04:48 PM

Halo is crap. "Whee, look at me, I can kill aliens."

I don't think Halo and FSW appeal to the same audience.

I agree...but I think he meant that the hype surrounding Halo 2 will affect all other releases with similar dates

Oh, it won't? I guess the game is gonna flop then... If all Halo owners don't buy this game it doesn't have much of an Xbox userbase to work with.

But anyway, I am a Halo fan, and this game appeals to me... I guess that should mean somthing. I was more talking about the hype machine behind Halo hurting the spotlight for this game. Kinda like how Halo owned E3 and made many ignore pretty much everything else in Xbox's line-up. (cept Rare games because, er, It's Rare ;))

gekko 06-17-2003 09:19 PM

Halo was at E3? Could've fooled me ;) Halo has been all that anyone's talked about since Microsoft bought Bungie and realized they had nothing else to sell the system on. Not my fault these people have no taste.

Let's put it this way, does the release of Halo affect the sale of puzzle games? No, two completely different games. Does the release of Madden 2003 affect the sale of NFL 2K3 and NFL Fever 2003? Yes. Halo won't affect the sales of FSW, because they are two different types of games.

Oh, and FSW is going to outsell Halo. I'm going to break into Bungie right before the game goes gold, and delete all the files. Mwahahaha

Yes it does. People who might have bought a puzzle game X won't because they just spen 50 bucks on Halo.

And, FSW is in the same category as Halo. FPS.....and it's also on a console....so xbox gamers aren't as particular about the FPS genre(more than PC)

Peh, HL2 looks better.

gekko 06-19-2003 09:43 AM

Not quite. Some people like realistic FPS, others hate it. There's a night and day difference between FPS.

That's right, some people are particular about the different styles of fps....but to the casual gamer(larger part of the market) they buy a game because of the hype surrounding it. If they really want a realistic fps then they'll buy one. But as far as Halo 2 goes...people are going to buy it over FSW.

Joeiss 06-21-2003 07:24 PM

This game is looking very impressive! I told my friend about it, and now he is pumped up for it too. This game has become a must-buy for him!
