Pokemon being released today

Who else is buying it?

I was gonna wait til the summer but I bit into the pressure. :(

I'm about to head to the mall to get it in about 30 minutes. I'll post impressions later.

Jason1 03-17-2003 04:01 PM

Nope, not buying it. Even my brother has grown out of Pokemon...I never really liked the games very much, didnt find them very fun...a little repetitive if anything.

TheGame 03-17-2003 04:57 PM

hmm.. I guess the game is shipped today, not released. Nintendo needs to work on giving realistic release dates. They give the ship date.

Also, as far as your post, I dunno if people can "grow out" of Pokemon... I feel the day I grow out of it I will grow out of Video games alltogether.

BlueFire 03-17-2003 05:16 PM

I would like to buy it. It looks like fun.

Jonbo298 03-17-2003 06:03 PM

hmmm....*goes and sees if the ROM is available yet*

GameMaster 03-17-2003 07:34 PM

The game was released today, only at the Pokémon Center in New York. Everywhere else you're going to have to wait until Wednesday March 19th.

The English ROMS are probably spreading like wild fire though.

woah, you can't be serious...

Dyne 03-18-2003 05:56 PM

Yeah, I was sure it was the 14th, but no.. the poster in the store said 19th. I'm sleeping outside Future Shop tonight for it.

And I'm getting it for free! From my parents.. for my report card. Sheesh, it pays to be smart.

TheGame 03-18-2003 10:37 PM

I got it earlier today... I have played 2 hours and have yet to go to a gym. This game doesn't have any huge innovations like GS, and if it does, I have yet to see it.

Not bad, but not and outstanding first impression, it's just pokemon with prettier graphics right now.

Joeiss 03-18-2003 11:23 PM

Wow... I had no clue this game was allready out yet... lol. I might pick it up, unless I find a Harvest Moon game any time soon.

Software Etc aka Gamestop

I got it today after school. I love it! :)

TheGame 03-20-2003 02:57 AM

I'm a pokemon addict again :)

this game reminds me of Red and blue again, a fresh new start to the series, not just a sequal like G/S.

GameMaster 03-20-2003 10:46 PM

What happen to the opening animation when a Pokémon is sent out? Oh well.

I agree Justin, it's just like old times again. Just me and my Pokémon on the road.

TheGame 03-21-2003 02:25 AM

I have allready put 11 hours behind it, only just beat the third gym though. The element of not having a clue what to expect really adds to the fun of the game. In G/S thing were a bit more predictable imo.

GameMaster 03-21-2003 10:44 PM

And I played G/S/C with a player's guide, not for the walk through, but so I could learn everything about every Pokémon, their moves, strengths, etc...

But I ended up using the walk through which kind of took the fun out and surprise out of the game. I haven't bought a guide for Sapphire so I don't know what's ahead which makes it much more "funner". I might still buy one though because I like to know all about each Pokémon's abilities.

Joeiss 03-22-2003 12:17 AM

There is not pressure on me to buy this game.... However, I enjoyed Blue very very much. So should I purchase this?

GameMaster 03-22-2003 01:20 AM

Definatley! Did you play G/S/C? If not, you'll be very impressed with how far things have come along since R/B/Y.

Joeiss 03-22-2003 11:18 AM

I bought gold, and was bored with it in like 4 days, lol.

GameMaster 03-22-2003 07:12 PM

Perhaps, you weren't willing to commit to the time it takes to become a Pokémon Master?

Well, I still think you should buy Ruby or Sapphire. It's new and refreshing.

Dyne 03-22-2003 10:23 PM

Ok, I got this game. The reason I haven't been much here is because I've used all my computer time up playing it instead. It's that awesome. :D

I feel my pokemon roots tickling me. It's so much better than GS.. GS felt tinny. "Ooh, look! Colour! Ooh, look! Time events! Ooooh, look! Infared port adaption!" This is no BS. Good graphics, slick menus.. I'm lovin every minute of it. And, the sound is great :D

Joeiss 03-22-2003 11:39 PM

WEll, I still have not got it yet.. I don't know if I should get sapphire, or get a used HM.

GameMaster 03-23-2003 11:54 AM

Justin, how many Gym leaders you beat so far?

Joeiss 03-23-2003 12:18 PM

Ok. I think that I am definately going to buy Sapphire today when I go to the gym (the mall is just upstairs). Yeah! Hopefully this will bring me back to the good old Blue days, not Silver days.

Joeiss 03-23-2003 01:49 PM

Ok, I bought Sapphire! It was the last copy at the store, and I made the kid behind me cry! lol.

My batteries just ran out, so I didn't have any time to do anything.. So yeah, I am gonna go hunt for my charger or some baterries.
