TLoZ:TWW smashes preorder records.
I would have posted this in the other thread, but this deserves it's own thread.
It's finally happened, TWW has garnered more preorders than any other game. Quote:

Cool cool.
But didn't Vice City has something like a couple million preorders? Or were those just BS numbers? Anyways... This game is going to be huge. I was at EB yesterday, and the demo was there. And I'll tell you, it looked outstanding. |
well, that's just one store...
But either way, I'm proud of Nintendo, this looks like it will be the first game to sway console sales. |
Who wants to bet that after the initial sales burst, Zelda drops quickly on the charts? :sneaky:

lol dh

Unless people buy multiple copies of the game..

Therefore makes less money. ;) |
I dont care if Zelda is on top for a month or 2 and starts to fall off. I'm gonna be looking at the sales for the first few months and that will show how well its doing. Enough people will own Zelda that they don't need to buy multiple copies because a game freezes and some people are dumb enough to buy another because of a stupid cheat code that can screw up a game. But my rant is enough. This is really great for the 'Cube. At least its getting some attention finally.

If you mean that Zelda has received over 560,000 preorders in one store, you're crazy . It's notched up more preorders than any game in all stores... And Joeiss, those GTA number were BS to an extent. They are true, but they aren't customer preorders numbers like these are, they were the amonut of copies the 'stores' themselves preordered. If you count these preorders alone on top of the sales in Japan, it's already sold over a million worldwide. |

So jonbo, the only reason why Pokemon did so well was because people tried to get Mew and Pikablue, and they messed up their game, so they bought new ones?
 |
a game that starts slw and gains momentum is better than a game that starts fast, and dies within a month. *coughmetroidcough*
|
wtf. . .someone says the pre sales are doing good and you guys act like something is bound to happen wrong cause its nintendo. I mean seriously do you think there is like a million cubes sold throughout the world? I don't think so< i'm to lazy to look up the actuall figure but I'm sure its a lot more than that and this game is a def must buy, every one i know has preordered it. You guys need to get a grip on things and chill out.

*shrugs*... Just my little theory, I'm not saying it's actually the case... Just seems like it to me maybe... |
So what!? Will it make it any less good? No way! Zelda is going to be way above the level of any PS2-XBOX games. Just like Metroid.
|
I haven't seen any live footage or demos so I'm going to be real surprised when I pick it up.

And I don't think Metroid is above the level of some PS2 games... I dunno about Xbox cuz I've never played it, but I've gone over this a few times before... |
Quote:
you are a funny one... yeah, I think Zelda will be a new level of gaming this generation, but metroid? LMAO I'm sorry, but I don't get what people like about that game. I'd take MANY games made for Ps2, Xbox, or GCN over it. Hell, I got the game for free when I re-purchased my GCN (got the platnum one) and I turned it in within 2 weeks for $15 which I put toward a superior game. (I chose not to name the game because I don't feel like fighting :)) |
the game.. what is it about metroid you hate so much man? I didnt get much time to play it but from what i played i seemed to really like it.... i only got up to that big plant boss with the solar panel things

You have to understand that different people have different opinions. My opinion is that Metroid Prime is overall the best game out of GC/Ps2 and Xbox, and I am guessing Zelda will be too (maybe after Metroid). That's just a guess though for Zelda, but the game looks amazing. For me there are Ps2 games that I really like, but when I compare them with Nintendo's exclusives (Zelda/Metroid/Mario Sunshine) they seem kinda at the "pretty good" level. I like Ps2 for its variety in games, and it's exclusive (well actually MGS ain't Ps2 exclusive anymore, so that just leaves GTA for me, no wait that's out on Pc, then there's FFX-2 and FFX). But the games I really get excited about aren't on the Ps2, and definitely not Xbox. |

Keep in mind, I'm a fan of sports, fighting, Racing, and FPS games... meaning I'm also a fan of instant action and satisfaction. If a game offers less than instant action, and any less than pulling me deep into the story from the gate, I won't like the game, period. I can hang with long games like FFX and Xenogears and Zelda because they get me wrapped up into the storyline, and at the same time offer fun gameplay. While Metroid from the gate offerd neither to me. I have heard many times "Keep playing deeper into the game, then you will like it!" If I don't like how the game feels, or the story, I have no reason to move any farther into a game. In metroid's case I dislike the concept, gameplay, and story, so in conclusion I don't like the game. I rented it twice, and even got it for free with my new platnum GCN, and it never once made me crack a smile or entertain me to the least bit. Just my opinion. |

If Nintendo kept the right developers and released the right games, I think hell I know I would be more excited about GCN. |

Your's is an opinion, and an unfair one. You cant base fact on something that doesnt exist right now (like future games). |
Quote:
C'mon man... you can't be serious. First of all, you can't mix opinions with facts... you either use one or another. If you want to use facts let's use some. Like the fact that Metroid Prime isn't even the best selling game on it's console. And what's with the future predictions? How do you know if Metroid will ever be topped or not? Nothing in the future is a fact. |
Quote:
I would take plenty of games over Metroid prime this generation. |
I agree that PS2 has more quality games than NGC... *shrugs*
But I think maybe TheGame didn't give Metroid much of a chance... I agree that the beginning of the game was quite boring (Infact when I first played, when I first arrived on the planet I stopped playing for awhile simply because it wasn't fun at all up until that point... Even early on the planet wasn't very fun), but it got better...... Just not as good as some of these people here say, IMO ;) |
What about the quality of the programming? The time put into it? the bugs? Maximization of the hardware use? THose kind of facts.
And yes, you are right, I can't tell the future and predict if games are going to be better of not, but from what I saw (don't get me wrong here I love some of the PS2 games out there and I own a PS2) I don't think it's going to happen. |
I imagine they will have a shortage, or at least use more then one planned shipment to meet demand. Unless they anticipated this.

My opinion is totally different from yours though. For me, R&C was good, but upto the 90th shine or so in SMS, R&C can't touch SMS. Oh and DsH, do you have any 'proof' that TWW is selling like it is only because of the bonus disk? From what I remember, you preordered Zelda because of TWW correct? You never really saw the big deal with it did you? And anyway, that argument doesn't stand up anyway, because most places ask you to put down $15 for the preorder, and they give you a bonus disk. Now if anyone wanted to return TWW, sure they could keep the onus disk, but they would have still spent $15. Now why would they do that for an old game? Then there is the 250,000 or so preorders that were placed before people knew about the bonus disk/the official campaign. Sure the bonus disk did help raise those figures somewhat, but there's no denying that many preordered the game for TWW itself. Besides, so what if supposedly, the only reason TWW was selling because of the bonus disk? It IS selling after all? |
Quote:
|
Quote:
But yeah I pre-ordered WW way back when EBgames started taking pre-orders... long before they announced the bonus disc dealy... |

Oh, you're right about the preorder thing though, I kind of misread what you typed earlier:D. But anyway. How about predictions for how much this game will sell worldwide? There are roughly around 9-10 million Cubes worldwide (not toally sure, could it be 8-9?), with Zelda yet to be released in Europe (Not forgetting the US either :D). |
