Well Freeloader is on its way finally

Lik Sang have sent it already. About bloody time

Has anybody purchased Freeloader? If so is it reliable?

I will test it with the US version of SFA I have. Then if all works out ok, I'm importing me Metroid Prime ASAP.

BlueFire 02-25-2003 04:43 PM

You can get in on early goodness now :p

If you get the 1.06 version, it will work on all the games that have been released so fay, including some of the ones that didn't work with version 1.04.

My Action Replay arrived (got it to play Jap games on either my US or PAL Cube), and I put the freeloader inside it through its paces. The US games REmake, RE 0, Metroid Prime and others all worked perfectly on my PAL cube.

My friend borrowed the Action Replay to test out some of the cheats on his PAL REmake, and all the cheats he tried worked, except the flame thrower cheat. Choosing this cheat, and equipping the flame thrower caused the game to either freeze or make the screen go black.

Also, the memory card that comes with the Action Replay cannot be used for game saves, only saving cheats you manually input.

I also read the booklet, and it states that since newer versions of the Action Replay (I guess this applies to the freeloader too) will be coming in the near future, owners of an Action Replay would be able to trade in their current versions for newer ones at a low cost.

So does that mean that the "first gen." of the AR are faulty? This seems oddly familiar;) *ahem Gameshark PS2*

Shadow_Link 02-25-2003 06:15 PM

How would they be faulty? There are probably well over 100 codes for REmake alone, and just one of them (4 if you count that the flamethrower cheat is for either slot 1, 2, 3 or 4)...

So...

Jonbo298 02-25-2003 06:25 PM

I knew that the 1.04 was not the best for RE(0). But I thought maybe there was another problem with it.

There's no such thing as a version 1.04 AR. ;)

I think you're getting mixed up with the Freeloader.

The AR includes version 1.06 of the freeloader.

GameMaster 02-26-2003 12:04 AM

Well bobcat, I'm glad you FINALLY received your freeloader. :) Now you'll be able to enjoy games the same time the majority of Gamecube owners here. :D ;)

Yes. I can't wait.

It still hasn't come. Should be any day now.

Bube 02-26-2003 03:30 PM

You've been waiting for that thing since summer right, Bobcat? Well, let's all hope that you get v1.06 and enjoy your games.

Yeh.

What if it isn't V1.06. What does that mean?

Some games don't actually work with 1.04, like RE0 for instance.

doh

What about Metroid Prime?

gekko 02-26-2003 08:09 PM

It's multi-disc games that are problems for boot discs.

oh so RE 0 is multiple?

that's ok, I don't like RE :D

As long as Zelda/Metroid and some other games are single cd

bobcat 02-27-2003 04:37 AM

Well it's at my mates house (borrowed his Amex to buy it). I'll have it 2morrow. I'm gonna order Metroid Prime if SFA (US Version) works!

Does any1 know about Metroid not working with freeloader??

It works. You just have to make sure you have a 60Hz, NTSC compatible TV with an RGB cable.

And Gekko, REmake and RE0 fully work with the newest version of the freeloader and the current AR.

51cm Wega should do the trick. RGB cable? I'm using the standard that came with it.

bobcat 02-27-2003 11:55 PM

Freeloader worked perfect. I got V1.06 and started playing SFA. Now I can finally get Metroid Prime next week!!

GameMaster 02-28-2003 01:31 AM

Glad to hear everything worked out :) Let us know when you get Metroid and and your impressions.

4 shor.

SFA seems ok for the moment. Bit strange so far. For some reason it reminds me of a Sega game. Must be the guitar music at the start

Don't expect anything special from the game. It's just a good game with amazing graphics.

I wasn't.

At first before it was released and all I thought it would be a stellar game. But after playing it a bit, just seems a bit out of whack for a Rare game

gekko 03-01-2003 07:32 PM

SFA sucks. I came to that conclusion long ago.

You'll enjoy staring at your Freeloader menu more.

bobcat 03-01-2003 07:45 PM

With SFA, I've noticed there is considerable slowdown when you are in big worlds looking around. Where the viewing distance is real big and stuff.

Anyone else have this problem?

bobcat 03-01-2003 09:48 PM

Anyone? I'm just thinking if Freeloader is the reason for some of the slowdown, or if it's just the game.

Joeiss 03-01-2003 09:51 PM

Come to think about it, one of my friends said something along the lines of I think. I'll ask him as soon as I see him.

And please stop the double posts, they are really annoying.

;)

GameMaster 03-01-2003 10:09 PM

Don't lose your faith in Star Fox yet bobcat, just hold on a little longer for StarFox Armada, which is true to the story of Star Fox.

I hate SFA so much. It's so off from what Star Fox is about and stuff. I think the game would have done better had it featured new characters instead bringing classic characters completley out of context and destroying their image.

About Freeloader or SFA?

No, it has nothing to do with the freeloader. I even tested out my NTSC copy of SFA on my PAL GC with the freeloader, and it worked like it normally did. The game does suffer from some frame rate problems in wide open areas.

Thanks for that SL

That's reassuring.

*eagerly awaits Zelda and Prime*

Bube 03-03-2003 01:47 PM

Here's something useful, a website which shows which games work with which method. And you can see if there are problems with it. The link.
