Say hello to free Xbox games
 

My friend got his Xbox modded so that you can copy Xbox games on your Hard Drive. You have to buy a 5400 RPM IDE (I think IDE) drive and get your Xbox modded. Reason why 5400 RPM is coz it produces less energy (hence less heat).

I'm getting a 120GB HDD. I hope the mod allows you to defrag your drive though. But yeh it works :D

In other words you're too cheap to support an industry that supplies you with endless hours of entertainment...

Hopefully your Xbox will fight back, overheat, and light your carpet on fire :-o

Eh I don't know what to think. I own a modded Xbox and use MAME-X a lot....

Too bad.. you're missing out on Live. That's kind of a big thing to miss.

Not really. It's gaming online. I've already experienced it with my Pc. Counter Strike, Warcraft, Diablo etc.

Microsoft don't have Xbox Live here yet in Australia yet and god knows when we are getting it.

Let's c. 5 Xbox games @ $99 each. That's about $500. The mod costs me $300.

You shouldn't blame me. Simply follow the below bullets:-

* Firstly you should blame Microsoft for their console design and giving hackers the most obvious form of rorting the XBox (a hard drive and PC built architecture).

* Secondly you should blame the hackers themselves for coming up with this idea. A console that was just screaming out "hack me" for hackers

* Thirdly you should blame the government for the high prices of modern living in this day and age (well in Sydney anyway)

* Fourthly my boss. He needs to give me a payrise

* Then finally blame me, for being a person who wishes to save thousands of dollars at the expense of Microsoft and games developers who are a billion times richer than me.

Oh and I have tiles. It gets too hot in the summer for carpet.

Hate to tell you this but i have been using my modded xbox on live for over 6 weeks now and i get no problems at all with it. Infact any 3rd gen Mod chip works fine with Xbox live.

Chips like the X-ecuter2 and Xodus/Matrix work just fine with xbox live! :D

They work fine now, but if MS finds a way to block any modded XBox's from using Live in the future, what will you do then? You can't really call and bitch to MS since they will just say "It's modded, we can't do anything about it:D". I've heard that the mod chips override the flash memory and if MS releases a patch that checks to make sure the flash memory is correct and if its not, they can say no, no, little billy:nono:

Nope time for you to read up alittle m8! X-ecuter2 and most other 3rd gen mod chips do not add anying to the Xboxs bios the by pass it. And they have a switch to turn them off and lets face it, if there is no power going to a chip that does not mod the Xbox's bios how the hell is Microsoft going to find. Yep thats right there not going to the X-ecuter2 lite 2 as been out for a long time now and Microsoft has doen nothing about it why's that do you think cuss they can't maybe.

Still, if MS does make a patch that can tell if your XBox is modded or not, what if you accidentally leave it on and go online with Live. Then MS can see your Mod, ban your XBox serial number and then your screwed until you get a normal one. But this is all theory, but more than possible to happen. Hell, you don't even need to be online and MS could check up on your XBox. As long as you have that cable in the back, MS could check up even when you're playing a non-Live game. But I might be wrong:unsure:

Don't go online if you are worried that much. You are still saving a sh!tload of $$$$

LOL. My family is not rich. We're middle class. But I earned a good deal of money last year and can afford a handful of games this year. Developers put a lot of work into their games...they earn money and a living just like anyone else.

I guess you're saying that if you don't have the money, and you have the optorunity to steal, it's okay?

I figured hardcore gamers respected the hard work people put into their games...obviously you guys just wanna milk their efforts.

If you don't have the money to buy something (especially a luxury

PS2... I buy only originals... why you may ask?? I don't want to support Microsoft but couldn't miss out Panzer Dragoon: Orta and JSRF.

Also bobcat it cost 120 euros for my chip... and the copies cost 12 Euros. Plus I can get USA and Jap X-Box games befoer they ever hit retail here in Europe.

I work and live by myself. I make $32,000, which ould make me LOW middle class, if even that, and I can't STAND hackers and people who mod their consoles for free games. You are scum. You care nothing for the gaming industry that supplies you with so much.

Do you think you're only cheating MS? WRONG. MS is losing money now. You're hurting every small house developer on the market. Small houses drive the advances and originality in his industry. The problem is, if their first titles don't do well, their investors pull out and the company DIES. If pirating games becomes a common occurance on the XBox, you could easily see a house like Big Blue Box, whon are developing Fable, go under. Good for you.

Anyway get real... 32,000?? Low end?? That's for Ameica... Middle class in Europe is 20,000- 25,000 euros per year.

Also I really like the fact that I get my piracy copy when the game comes out in Japan...(the day it comes out in Japan) and get my piracy copy of USA games (because you need to understand some of your games) like 3-4 months they are officialy released. here

I had what over 60 dreamcast games... 20+ X-Box games. and umm 12 PS2 games (all original)

I'm sure Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo really care for consumers. They don't give a sh!t about you guys, they don't care if you enjoy your games, they just want your money. You guys are acting as if games/console companies really care for consumers.

I bought a Psx for $700 AUST, I bought a Ps2 for $750 AUST, I bought a Saturn for $800 AUST. I think it's about time I reap some benefits from these multi million/billion dollar companies.

I'm not a hacker. Gaming industry don't give a stuff about us. They supply me with what they make their money off........games. That don't make them "saints". It's their job. They get payed to do so. Times are changing.

Didn't say that. Basically I said that the Xbox is the console out of all next gen consoles that is most prone to hacking. Maybe they should've invested less money into marketing and more into anti-piracy. If MS truly believed that hackers were going to be a problem, then they would have obviously put more money into anti piracy for the Xbox (maybe even ditching the Hard Drive). But they chose not to.

You are entitled to your opinion. As I am mine. I still think it's high time I got some free stuff for all the money I've contributed to gaming. For all the small house developers I have helped through the tough times. For contributing +1 to the sales of the GC, Ps2, Xbox, NES, SNES, Megadrive, SMS, Neo Geo, Neo Geo CD, GBA, GB, GB Color, C64, Amiga, Amstrad, Mega CD and the hundreds of games I've purchased. What incentives have I got as a result of ALL my purchases?? NONE! I payed for what I got, and that's basically it.

Don't give me this "how can you do such a thing. They give you years of entertainment and you just steal from them". That is a load of crap (especially in this day and age). It's their job. They get PAYED to do it.

Just to get the record straight I haven't modded my Xbox, but I don't see what the problem is in me doing so. Especially after all I've contributed to the gaming industry ever since I was a youngsta. And I can't take responsibility for other people's actions, so don't give me this "what if everyone started modding their Xboxes" crap.
