Detecting a two-way mirror...
This was passed on by a police woman who travels all over the US and gives seminars and techniques for Couples, business men/women, executives. Many of the hotels cheat the customers this way & enjoy while the couple enjoy their honeymoon in their rooms.
HOW TO DETECT A 2-WAY MIRROR: When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc, how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror i.e., they can see you, but you can't see them? There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms or bathroom or bedrooms. It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by just looking at it. So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of mirror we are looking at? CONDUCT THIS SIMPLE TEST: Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is a GENUINE mirror. However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE, IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR! (There may be someone seeing you from the other side). So remember, every time you see a mirror, do the "fingernail test". It doesn't cost you anything. It is simple to do. This is a really good thing to do. The reason there is a gap on a real mirror, is because silver is on the back of the mirror UNDER the glass. Whereas with a 2-way mirror, the silver is on the surface. Keep it in mind! Make sure and check every time you enter in hotel rooms. Maybe someone is making a film of you. :sneaky: :lurk: |
That's a really cool tip. Thanks Shadow Link.
|
First off, who cares? Are you not going to go to the bathroom? Not going to try on clothes?
|
Well, I guess it does show how perverted and sick some people can be. Like installing 2-way mirrors just to look at people when they are changing? That's rather sad.
|
Or to make sure people aren't stealing clothes...

too bad i already knew of that one, read it on a website about 2 years back.... anywho, i forgot of the technique thanks for the reminder!
|
lol...2-way mirrors are funny...:sneaky:
what? ohh...about the test...ummm...i've been around 2-way mirrors quite a bit, but never figured out how they worked...meh... |
thanks for the advice...
i've always wondered about dressing rooms...just one of those sick paranoia things |

Neo = FBI
Thanks for the tip!! I once saw through a mirror in a supermarket. Never knew it was a 2-way one. I usually stared in it to make sure my hair was ok. :stud: |
No, Neo==Physicist. Neo actually came up with the theory that the speed of gravity equals the speed of like, not Einstein. ;)

Oh wait, are you joking or something? :D |
Yes, I meant light.
And no, I'm not joking. Scientists (like Neo) have just proven that the speed of gravity is equal to the speed of light. Something Einstein predicted a while ago. |
I wish i had a 2 way mirror... even though i would not have anywhere to put it... lol... oh well!

But isn't Shadow Link right??? Gravity is acceleration, not speed. If you have enough acceleration, everything can reach the speed of light, right?
Xantar? Neo? |

But the gravity on Earth isn't great enough to equal the speed of light. You need an object with a greater amount of mass for the gravity to be great enough for that.
|

The value G on earth = 9.81m/s/s (that's acceleration). The value of G on the moon = 1/6 of that on the Earth. I think Neo might be able to clear this up better than I can? |
|
Well, what that means is the effect of a gravitational producing body propagates outwards at the speed of light. So if a planet suddenly shifted a couple au's in some direction, the time it would take for us to "feel" it is equal to the distance between us and the plant divided by the speed of light. It's not an instantaneous effect in other words. No signal or change can travel faster than the speed of light.

THanks Neo. You just made me even more confused. |
I wonder what the theories will be in let's say 100 years. Probably based on ours, just more detailed and complex.
Perhaps there is something faster than light. :) |

So...
Anyone found a two-way mirror yet? |
There's one in my bathroom.
