So I saw Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

actually i saw it twice today... cause i work at the theater..

anyhoo... i thought it was amazing... of course there were some little things they added in and alot of stuff they couldnt fit in that were in the book... but it was done great.. i suppose it starts to let you get bored a few times during the movie... but within like 5 minutes something really cool happens and it just grabs you right back into the movie...

let me just say... helms deep was WICKED... and the way that battle ends almost made me cry with happiness.. hehe.. it was wicked... but u know.. it seems like the movie just starts to REALLY get good when it ends... and i guess thats peter jacksons cruel way of making us go insane for another year until The Return of the King....

all i gotta say is that better live up to the expectations... cause this one just leaves you wanting to see more..

Happydude 12-18-2002 09:39 AM

i'm probably gonna go see it this weekend...

and what theatre do you work at? is the Silver City on Yonge in Richmond Hill?

GameKinG 12-18-2002 10:02 AM

Sounds good. Must.see.

Xantar 12-18-2002 10:04 AM

So I saw ghettodude recently...

It's been a long, long while.

Anyway, with any luck, I'll be seeing that movie today. :D

Angrist 12-18-2002 11:02 AM

Tomorrow night...:D

ghettodude 12-18-2002 01:35 PM

if theres one thing about the movie i didnt like.. it was that sense of incompleteness... like after the most amazing things you see in the movie... you still feel like u wanted more... its like satisfying and unsatisfying at the same time....

silvercity yorkdale
hey xantar..

Dyne 12-18-2002 01:46 PM

Sounds good. I'm probably going on my birthday, if we can break away from the game convention. :D

12-18-2002 02:10 PM

me jonbo and steve are going to see it today

Professor S 12-18-2002 02:55 PM

I got tickets for this last week. Its going to break all single weekend ticket sales I think. Last week 77% of all ticket sales on Fandango.com were for The Two Towers, and thats a record for the site.

Speaking of The Two Towers, is anyone already itching to see the extended DVD???? I loved the Fellowship extended version as they added more to Hobbiton, Lothlorien and just about every fight scene in the movie (Legolas and Gimli kick A$$ in the extended version). From what I understand they have a lot planned for the extended version of The Two Towers. I can't wait!!

Crono 12-18-2002 03:03 PM

I'm going to be seeing it this friday

Joeiss 12-18-2002 03:22 PM

I'll probably see it on Friday... or maybe tomorrow.

DeathsHand 12-18-2002 04:02 PM

I saw it today too, and it was quite good! I've heard people say it's better than the first, but I dunno about that... but who the hell cares, it's still a great mov-way (^_^

Then when the movie got out a ton of teenagers and stuff were lined up outside and I was like "HAHAHA I GOT TO SEE IT WHILE YOU WERE IN SCHOOL AND ALL I DID WAS WALTZ IN AND YOU HAVE TO STAND THERE LOOKING LIKE MORONS MUWAHAHAHA"...

Ok I didn't really say that but still...

I don't feel like saying anything else... Just listen to ghettodude...

Destro 12-18-2002 04:03 PM

Yeah, I might have to see that some time. If it's anything like the last one, I'll be bored as hell in the theatre. I'd say that Peter Jackson could've cut a few hours out of Fellowship. What a stinker :fart:

Agreed...

Whats this? Im agreeing with a Newbie?

...

Well, I guess it wasnt THAT bad, but I cant say I enjoyed my 3 hours in the theatre...We shall see about this second one.

Destro 12-18-2002 04:18 PM

I am no "Newbie" (Why you capitalized that, I will never know). I was once the respectable Doctor Zhivago. And besides, what does my supposedly being new to a stupid video game-related web forum have to do with my taste in movies? Are you really that dumb? Ooops, no flamin'! What I meant to say is that I love and you are my main homie. us---> :beerchug:

Bah... I don't need to see a movie with my friends... I like going to the movies by myself... you don't have someone nudging your arm all the time to make a stupid comment... :sneaky:

Besides, with the Fellowship of the Ring, I saw it the day it came out, then that Friday I saw it again with my FRIENDS...

But I won't do that this time since on Friday I'm going to a concert/show thing with my FRIENDS...

And why does it seem like nobody reads the later pages in that topic where I saw screw it I hate you all and I'll torture you further with my presence?

once again, you manage to somehow sneak in info about your personal life with your friends and then pretend that you didn't wanna talk about it

brilliant.

as for me, I'll either go with my lady friend or I might go with my sister who just got back from University for the Holidays

*edit* if you didn't leave then why did you make the attention whore-like 'it's been fun' thread? ;) jk, I still love you DH

I talked about friends and what I was doing on Friday... that's not a lot... and how did I pretend I didn't want to talk about it?

And I made the bye bye thread because I was a moron and in a very bad mood and then the next day I was like "What was I thinking, I'm a moron"

.... (^_^

Now back to Lord of the Rings -.- GOLLUM IS TEH SEXY!

After seeing it, I will never look at trees the same again;):D:errr:

12-18-2002 08:55 PM

just got done watching it and it is a must see movie

GameMaster 12-18-2002 09:52 PM

Going to see it Friday or Saturday...

How come it's 2 hours and 59 minutes? Wouldn't one more minute of combat packed, heart-wrenching, tear jerking action been okay?

By the way, in the paper here, it got an A-!

ghettodude 12-18-2002 10:38 PM

geez u know what REALLY makes that movie though? the camera work... the angles and the pans and the way they capture the scene so perfectly is where it really shines... you will see when watching helms deep.. that scene was so amazing....

and yea.. deathshand does have friends..

.......

ThInK about it...

Shiz 12-19-2002 04:48 PM

deaths hand u got shot down by stu

Dragon-Fly 12-19-2002 05:42 PM

I find it better than the first. More action, especially the war. I loved the action in this movie.
Out of 10, i give this movie 9.8/10.
The first movie i gave it 9.2/10

Anyway, I saw the movie last night and it is one of the best movies I've ever seen, hands down. I really liked Fellowship, and I can honestly say that the Two Towers is the much better film. The battle of Helm's Deep will go down in history as one of the greatest battles on film, ever. I also loved how this second intallment in the Trilogy has more of everything than the first. More emotion, more humour, more action, more violence (definately NOT overdone, though), and more things took place. I loved some of the new characters such as Gollum and especially the TREES. I also love how characters like Gimli and Legolas were much larger parts of the movie than in Fellowship. I can now truly say that they are great characters. And is there much to say about Aragorn? He's the man. Also, the story progressed so well on the screen that I payed strict attention to the film for the full 2 hours and 59 minutes. That says a lot. The movie is an instant classic, and carries my 'film of the year' honor and runs with it since surpassing Minority Report. And the trees own us. That is all.

Angrist 12-20-2002 10:58 AM

SPOILERS!!!

I saw it too yesterday night. I didn't know what to ecpect from it.
I loved TFotR (seen it 7 times) and I love the book.

I went with a (female) friend that's also Tolkien-fan.
We enjoyed it, it was good. Not better than TFotR, just different.
Gollum was great!! Man he was good! :D Just like in the book!

The worst thing of the movie was the Ents. I mean, they were kinda good, but not half as cool as in the book. Especially the eyes... I mean, YELLOW EYES??

Helm's Deep was cool, just too bad that they changed the already perfect story of the book. 10.000 Uruks vs 300 weak old men and boys just isn't cool. And Elves in Helms Deep?? Come on, the Last Alliance of Elves and Men wasn't called that for nothing! They just needed someone important to die...

The movie lacked the story from part one.

And it sucks that Faramir was evil. In the book, he just let's them go from the start. So they don't go into Osgiliath and stuff.

Oh yeah, the Dead Marshes were... not creepy enough. In the book, I was scared to death (hey, I was 15)! Here it was... meh.

I don't say the movie is bad, but I still have to accept some changes from the book. After that it'll be great. :)

I didn't find it creepy...and I am 15.

The movie was pretty good. I saw it with my friend today.

Words cannot describe how much I agree with your post. From the fact that it's better than the already, more than great Fellowship of the Rings, to the other fact that it eclipses one of the other great films, Minority Reports. If there was only one complaint I could possiby think of (and it can't even be classed as one), is that the film could have been longer :D.

I have a feeling that this trilogy of films will be the best in history.

DarkMaster 12-20-2002 07:49 PM

i just got back from seeing the movie. i thought it was damn good. best movie i've seen all year. not once did i feel bored or uninterested, it was just a joy to watch. the cinematography was absolutely stunning, beautiful lighting and perfect camera angles. computer graphics were some of the best i've ever seen, especially Gollum who was brilliantly acted. not to mention, the Ents were damn crazy! deffinitely worth the 3 hours, i hope they make an extended DVD version. and the final battle at Helms Deep was unbelieveable. never have i seen a battle so big and so amazing, that alone is worth watching the movie.
