Nintendo to purchase Capcom!!!
www.gamers.com is reporting that tomorow at a conference, Nintendo will probably be announcing their purchase of Capcom, which would explain the 5 new exclusive games coming out. I cant say how happy i am to hear it :)
|
Hopefully Nintendo will oversee Capcom's games (Survival/Adventure/Platform) and make them better!! I'm not a huge Capcom fan anymore.
Except for fighting games and Megaman. They kick ass! |
Hopefully Nintendo will oversee Capcom's games (Survival/Adventure/Platform) and make them better!! I'm not a huge Capcom fan anymore. That's if they buy Capcom!
Except for fighting games and Megaman, Capcom games need improvements IMO. They have good idea's, but for me they don't put out like Konami/Square. |
Hmm... CubeNation is sure that they WON'T buy Capcom... just have some more exclusives...
Yeah if Nintendo helped them with their games... :D |
Well, Im not going to believe or disaprove of any of the stories (just to not look bad when either thing hapens). But, this story was originaly reported by CBS Marketwatch, which is probably the most reliable source yet.
|
Excellent. Hopefully one of the many fruits would be a Megaman EXE Transimission ONLINE! =D Er... well...
It seems logical... pretty much. CBS is pretty official. It's funny only months ago were we afraid that Capcom was going to be bought by Microsoft... bleh. I sure hope something happens regardless. Oh yes, one little node that makes me EXTREMELY giddy is the fact that I can't access the Capcom America website! Well.... er.... you know. :p |
thats good news

Oh yeah, it's the birthday of Rockman today. 15th birthday! Wow..
Taken from the official website: "Today your 15th birthday of lock man! ■ ■ Lock man ■ Drama & in addition ■ All the 3 types Today is your 15th birthday of the "lock man"! With e-CAPCOM CD3 type of bosom oak of such a lock man, animation DVD, it is in the midst of very popular selling! It sells also the matte I I "コブン" goods to in addition to. Trying checking by all means, don't you think?! * When illustration the left is clicked, the lock man goods which have been sold with e-CAPCOM are indicated all commodity. (There is also a commodity of sellout in. Keeping seeing slowly, don't you think?!!" So.. yeah, anyways, both the Nintendo website and the capcom website are down... except their japanese counterparts are.. hmm... |
Guys, CBS Market Watch only reported that analysts are speculating that there will be a buyout. They never said it was definitely going to happen.
And as Angrist pointed out, CubeNation has said that a buyout is not going to happen. I tend to agree with them. It's not Nintendo's style at all. They prefer small companies because it's more cost-effective to build them up and they don't have to deal with things like firing all the marketing people. Both CubeNation and CBS Market Watch say that there's going to be a conference tomorrow, though. Something is going on, and it probably involves Capcom somehow. |
I highly doubt it's a Capcom buy-out. What's going to happen to my beloved BoFV being released on PS2 this March? I sure as hell don't want Nintendo getting profit from that.
|
What? WHAT?
I WANT MY ONLINE TEKKI DAMNIT! They better be pulling this out of their ass. |
No one has seemed to mention anything about the TRIFORCE or NICKEL CITIES, hmm? I just had thought about it. If Capcom plans to release Nickel Cities in America as well as the already-opened ones in Japan, maybe they could flood them with Triforce boards, F-zero Cubed, Star Fox Armada, and Mario Kart? (or something of the like). That would seem most reasonable.
A buyout would seem pliable, because if Nintendo controlled Capcom, they basically have a hold on the arcade and home game market. That way they could certainly push the TriForce to it's full potential. People haven't realized that the Nickel City could be a hidden treasure. Plus, with a low price stamped on Capcom's forehead, and a ton of famous game series, I think this would be money in the bag for Nintendo for SURE. Capcom's followed Nintendo since the early days with the NES, and the SNES, and I think it's time to take their friendship and turn it into something special. Who knows, maybe it's not a buyout, rather a very strong partnership (in which Nintendo buys only a small amount, grasping hold of them. Like Sony and Square). Who agrees? |
A good friendship is much more likely than a buy out.
|
Yes, and that way, they also have money to partner with Sega, Namco, or even someone else. Plus, have money left over for chops for the party afterwards. :p
|
I guess I've heard that Capcom will become a first party developer and that Sega and Nintendo will merge into one company...
Cube-Europe.com says that the announcement will be made today, but that it's a rumor and is possibly not true. |
Here is the real article from gamers.com:
"Hot on the heels of the Square and Enix merger, it appears that we may have another sign of the consolidation that is beginning to occur in the games industry. According to CBS Market Watch, Nintendo may be purchasing Capcom. The financial news site states that Nintendo will be making a substantial announcement tomorrow, and that game industry analysts are indicating that it will be the purchase of Capcom. "They are trying to shake their image a little bit and attract older gamers," Paul Kaump, of Doughery & Co. told CBS Market Watch. "All of these companies are up for sale, except Microsoft and Sony," added James Lin, an analyst with Jeffries & Co. Whether tomorrow's Nintendo announcement pertains to Capcom is still unconfirmed, but it should be big regardless. Stay tuned to Gamers.com for the latest." They are only rumors, don't get your hopes up. |
Oh yes, here's the official story if anyone wants it.

*Fascinating. Absolutely Fascinating. If every company is for sale... well... then... maybe Capcom was flirting with Nintendo by releasing the Capcom Five? ;) **AHA! They always decline comment on things like this.:p |
I hope Nintendo does buy Capcom. My friend loves almost anything made by Capcom (thats one of the main reasons why he has a PS2, and no I'm not talking about ominub). But he would most likely buy a 'Cube if Capcom went 'Cube only:D
|
If anything it might be a partnership......they would make more money that way.....or it could be a merger.........or it could be nothing along those lines. Who knows?

Anyway, Capcom isn't a big purchase to me, because the last capcom game I purchased was on Sega Genesis... Street fighter 2 Special Edition... I guess all the RE maniacs are gonna have to get Nintendo consoles every generation now... not just this one :D |
Well, I'm pretty sure some hardcore Devil May Cry fans will have to migrate over to our side of the market. Or even some Megaman fans. I broke this news to my friend, and he says the only Capcom game he likes is Devil May Cry... so he plans to buy a gamecube. Not to mention Onimusha; that's a pretty good game series so far.
|
Well, I thought it was gonna happen until I saw this...
Here, take a look at this article. Sega and Capcom are working on a Auto Modeliista Online game for the PS2... http://www.gamesarefun.com/cgi-bin/n...40145992,9698, Unless that gets canceled, I say Nintendo isn't buying Capcom yet. Also, I would like to see BoFV on the Gamecube... Since it's lacking on RPGs, Capcom can give them a slight boost. |
If Nintendo does buy Capcom, I dont think its gonna be instant. They might allow Capcom to finish current "other platform" games first, then go exclusive. Nintendo might take some of the monies made from any games after the buyout.
|
Wow... that's a tide turner.
 Besides... Sega also made the online kit for gamecube too. GCN needs more racing anyways. Shizzle, I want Capcom! ;_; |
"RE this, Street Fighter that, blah blah blah"
Does anyone even know about BoF? I've said it once and I'll say it again, the BoF series is an extremely good rpg series. There are only 2 Squaresoft games that I like more than BoF3 (CC and CT). Capcom did a really good job on BoF3, and BoF4 was pretty good. BoF5 seems weird but it's different. Anyway, instead of always saying that Capcom only makes games like RE/DMC/Onimusha, fighters and mega man games, you should look at the RPG side. If I was Capcom, I would be making more rpgs, Capcom seems to be pretty good at it, and Choas Legion looks pretty cool. (Another RPG by Capcom.) |

that really doesnt mean a lot. Rare was allowed to finish and send out StarFox for GC when MS bought them. if it did happen. games that could be ported would be....... games way too far off would be canceled. and games too close to development, that would make them lose money to cancel. then they would be released on the console they were entended. See, if nintendo bought them. and they released games on PS2 and Xbox. its still helping nintendo out for thoes games to be selling. rather then getting canceled. Not sure if this will end up being true or not. But either way. i belive nintendo is in the hunt for buying some company, whether it be now or later on. |
If this were Microsoft that wabout to announce a buyout of Capcom, everybody at this forum would be like, "No!! That is no fair!!! Let's stop MS's attempted monopoly of the console gaming world by bitching and complaining about it!!!!"
But when Nintendo might buy out Capcom, everybody here is all happy and stuff. LOL. There is this really big loser at my school who wears RE tshirts on civies days... ANd he is the biggest Nintendo fan i know... So if this is true, I expect that he will be going crazy when he finds out... lol. |

Companies buy other companies everyday though, it's really no big deal. Unless of course it is Nintendo. |
um. hello guys, this is a nintendo forum.
you put the rare topics in the MS forum, and all the MS fans were happy happy Whats different? |
Quote:
And not everyone was happy, go look back at the topic. |
thats because it used to be a GC only forum. so truthfully there is more GC fans around.
and i said the xbox fans were happy happy. :P |

Bond: You, me, Stu... there's more than that. ;)
Yeah, I always say that... What if Nintendo had released something like the Xbox, while Microsoft released something like the Gamecube? You'd see a flip completely. I think Nintendo is trying to pull all strings to try to stay well ahead of the Xbox worldwide. |
If nintendo does it
gamecube is going to have massive sales increases, niot mention this is probably the megaton. Two words OH YEAH!
|
I guess this purchase would be good. I'm not a big Capcom player though. Except for the fighters like bobcat said.
|
When I first heard this im like WOOT CAPCOMAGE W00t!!!
But the more I think about it, I realise I have never really liked a Capcom game, besides their Zelda Oracle seires, but that hardley counts, they had help from Nintendo. The RE remake was OK, but not that good, IMO. I just dont care much for the gameplay. And Im not really a big fan of fighting games. But if this is true, it can only help the Cube, so that is good. |

Is Capcom the people that make Devil May Cry?
Oh well... If this is true, I just want my copy of Red Dead Revolver for PS2 and then Capcom can go. |
If this deal does go through ill be looking forward especially to tekken, and a few of the previous PS2 only titles :D
