Here it is in all it's glory with an official website! GameCube DVD/Game Player

So what do you guys think? I'd get it because I don't have a DVD player but I already got a GC so... :)

Drunk Hobbit 01-31-2002 07:39 PM

It's not coming to America but you can buy a modded one for a hefty price or mod it yourself.

DeathsHand 01-31-2002 07:43 PM

Yep, CanMan's right; but you can get the thing fully region free (plays all DVD's), and with a lock switch to play US/Jap games for a meaty $499 US. It's worth it in all ways; not many region-free DVD players you can get for that price...plus you get two GameCubes out of it: Jap/US- all in one package.

I'd take a look at that if I were you, GameMaster. Hell, I'm still drooling over it as we speak...check it out at Lik-Sang.com, if you haven't been there yet.

LoudHowardZERO 02-01-2002 01:36 AM

Is it still called The Q?

Shadow Fox 02-01-2002 02:13 AM

Yes, the Panasonic Q.

LoudHowardZERO 02-01-2002 08:41 PM

Ahhhh, all right then.....

GameMaster 02-02-2002 01:54 AM

I think I'm gonna take SF's advice and buy the nifty little toy.

*Shells out $500 green ones on the counter*
*wakes up*

Lemonade for sale, 5¢ :(

Revival 02-02-2002 10:48 AM

Hefty price to pay.. but here's the math:

US GameCube: $199
DVD player (good quality): $180
--------------------------------------------------------------------
$376
- $500 (difference for Q)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
$124

Ok.. so if you were to get the Q over a DVD and GameCube, you'd spend around $124 more. Not to shabby, plus, if you get the Q, it's all in one component :D

Y2Kevbug11 02-02-2002 03:08 PM

That's not really true, B/C

American GC- 199
Japanese GC- 199
Region-Free DVD player- something like 400 dollars.

bobcat 02-03-2002 04:54 AM

hmm purty

Idiot 02-03-2002 09:25 AM

Speaking from a point of industrial design, the Panasonic Q reminds me of the fantastic Apple Titanium PowerBook G4 in that it's so brilliantly mettalic. On another note, the only forseeable problem for the Panasonic Q that I can find is expandability. What if Nintendo releases extra ram, such as they did with the Nintendo 64? Will Panasonic update the Panasonic Q, or simply discontinue it? Only time, it seems, will tell....

I wasn't contrasting a difference between the American and the Japanese, I was contrasting between an American GameCube and the Panasonic Q.

All the prices I have don't include modding -- since I have no clue how much that would cost you..

DaGamingMasta 02-09-2002 10:40 AM

I like it but it costs $450 buckaroonies and i already have 3 DVD players in my house so i'll pass go to
http://www.ncsx.com and go to the store to see it

Joeiss 02-09-2002 11:38 AM

Does anybody know how large it is? (demension wise). Is it drastically larger than the GCN? Or is it just a tad larger? Or is it the same size?

just a tad taller, compare it to the controller, plus it is square in front, the cube is rectangular in front.
