Wavebird Extention

Um.. meh. I thought it was perfect as it was..

Well, at least we know Matsus hita is doing SOMETHING. I, for one, would rather see that SD-card adapter.

GameMaster 12-10-2002 01:08 AM

That's good. Now I can play 50 ft. from my TV screen. Remind to bring a telescope so I can see what I'm doing. :D

Why do you need a telescope, you have a small tv set or somthing:rolleyes:

Angrist 12-10-2002 03:59 AM

Nice!
But will this result in a new WaveBird, or just an upgrade?!

GameKinG 12-10-2002 10:05 AM

The actual press release says you can play from somewhere around 2km away.

Angrist 12-10-2002 11:14 AM

Hmm... they should just put those things in GameBoys!! That would be great for wireless play! :D Imagine playing in school with a friend that is in another class! ;)

Dyne 12-10-2002 01:30 PM

Oh, I realized something: They're releasing a platinum Wavebird controller, so they'll probably put them in that one. :D

Angrist 12-10-2002 03:29 PM

That platinum Wavebird sounds sweet! :D Isn't there also a teal one?

Dyne 12-10-2002 04:07 PM

No, the teal one was the standard controller--like orange. Who knows, maybe they'll put extra rumble in it? =P

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ngc/index.html

Yeah, and they're going to be selling a standard Platinum as well...

Jason1 12-10-2002 04:56 PM

2 KM away? Whats the point? They will start running into problems, where your friend 3 blocks away is playing while your playing, and he happens go be on the same channel...BIG PROBLEM.

Angrist 12-10-2002 05:08 PM

IF it works with channels. Mobile phones don't have those problems do they?

Ice Gecko 12-10-2002 05:27 PM

Cripes let's hope they don't have IP's :D That would be up to 256 numbers in 4 slots. WOW infinite combinations@!!! almost.

Now that I'm thinking 256 * 4 =1024 the magic number in computers!!

Jonbo298 12-10-2002 05:34 PM

It seemed kind of weird at first to me for Nintendo to release a new Wavebird so soon. But with the Platinum Wavebird coming out, maybe they will include it along with rumble It could be one of those "limited edition" Wavebirds.:D

GameMaster 12-10-2002 08:47 PM

Someone remind me again, why do we want to play farther than 35 feet from our consoles?

Actually I'm pretty sure Miyamoto requested it, so he could play a gamecube across a convention hall on a big screen to show everyone what the game was like. Or maybe just play it on his own. ;)

GameMaster 12-10-2002 09:44 PM

It's a waste of money considering most people don't play their Gamecube's on big screen TVs in large convention halls. I seriously don't believe these are going to sell.

Jason1 12-10-2002 10:11 PM

I think you guys are taking this like it will be a whole new wavebird, that costs a different amount and everything...I doubt this. Im thinking they will simply start putting this upgraded chip in their new shipments. There will be no way to tell the old from the new, except it will probably say ''now with an upgraded distance of up to *blank* feet!'' Or something of that sort...I suspect anyways.

gekko 12-10-2002 11:29 PM

Well, I've played with a Wavebird from damn near its limits (It's me!). I can tell you it's impossible to see anything. However, if we would've forked over the hundreds on dollars to play on a 6' screen, that would've kicked ass.

Anyways, the reason behind this is probably to provide more channels and different frequencies, so your signals don't get mixed as easily.

More importantly, Mitsubishi has taken an interest in Nintendo, or vice-versa. Thats good for any future 'projects'.

Pssst.... I hope you meant Panasonic/Matsus hita. ;)

Hmm.... Wait a pop...

*visualizes New Mitsubishi vehicle with full Gamecube support*

Oh, tell me about it! The Gamecube is in need of some real good exclusive racing games anyways. ;)
