That's coo, stats from 2 months ago though... I remember GCN sales slowing after SMS... and Xbox sales speeding up after SMS. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Correct forum aside, I could have sworn the report IGN posted is the exact opposite of this.

I remember that IGN's report went up to September just like this one. But that one had the Xbox ahead by 500,000 units. Now this one comes along and says that the GameCube is ahead by 500,000 units.

Something's screwy going on here.

Either that or I'm crazy.

Meh, I don't know what to trust when it comes to US console sales.

One source says this console is 500,000 ahead of that console, while another says the complete opposite.

No chance, neither will Xbox. PS2 already has lead of about 9 million and is selling faster. Plus it has GTA: VC...:D

The only remote chance of that happening is if Nintendo secure the Final Fantasy series, Dragon Quest Series, the next MGS installment and a whole bunch of Rockstar games exclusively.

But since it isn't going to happen, I say no chance. Even the combines sales of the GC + Xbox will be atleast a fourth of the total sales of the PS2 worldwide, maybe even less.

perhaps if nintendo offered a special deal where everyone who returns a PS2 gets $500

and all the returns would count against sonys sales. and thier numbers would rapidly plummit.

then in a counter mesure, sony lowers the price of the PS2 to $10

but that only incurages people to buy tons and return them all making huge huge profits.

and the guy who came up with the idea gets fired from sony

then sony stares fireing other employee's

thier stock goes to hell

people start selling the stock

Yahoo has confirmed to n-philes that this was a typo, that xbox is ahread by 500,000. Which I think closed the gap by 50,000 between xbox and cube from august...

Yeah, I was just going to comment on the fact that I could be a mistake. Just a while ago, Xbox had a 500,000 units lead. There's no way Cube could have get the jump, let alone catch up that quick.

what's weird is that we've been selling way more GCN's than Xbox's this week at circuit city. i've sold about 7 GCN, and no xbox's and one ps2...

(maybe it could be that if they express interest in either other system, i stop helping em) j/k,

in Fall 2001... when I used to work at Software Etc, Ps2 was selling by far the worst, GCN and Xbox were handing it to Ps2. But the sales charts don't exactly reflect that :p

Ahem... yeah, Gamecube's winning nonetheless worldwide, what with it's release in Japan way before Xbox. I understand why the Xbox is selling better in America, it's only elementary. If Sony loses their 2nd and 3rd party support, I would love to see them flush down to the murky depths of hell where they belong. ;)

I mean really, what is PS2 without companies making games for them? Without Rockstar, EA, Sega, Square, Koei, Capcom or Konami, we can bid adu to them.

I heard Xbox is catching up to GCN in Euro, and that Xbox is predicted to come out of the Xmas season in the lead there.

As far as Japan, I don't see Xbox beating Cube..... but then again, maybe the stats are exagerated because GCN got a holiday head start over Xbox in Japan.

Shenmue is sega. might be xbox exclusive (aside from DC) but not first party.

aage of mythology / empire whatever, yea. but i guess i was just thinkin more along the lines of Exclusive titles.


And halo im not sure what they consider bungie, i guess they might be first party, but its kinda weird cuz it will be on PC too, which yes is also MS, but then also on Mac, which is not MS.

but aside from that. i respect your opionion not to like sony first party games.......... your entitled not to like sony first party games. but to say they cant make any good ones is a whole nother subject, becaause they seem to provide enough.

Well, they're not good enough to be a selling point. That's all I'm saying. All I hear is "omfg I want to buy GTA:VC/Xenosaga/Final Fantasy X/DMC2/MGS2:S". I've never heard anyone say that regarding a first-party.

GT3, perfect 10 scores. was one of THE major console sellers for PS2.

It was groundbreaking. It could have been good or even "meh". The main point of it was to show off the hardware. Plus, maybe because of the fact that they packaged GT3 in with the PS2 was why it sold so much! Hmmmmmmmmm!! ;)

There's no point Null... Him and D-other nintendo fanboys (;)) would never accept Sony as a decent 1st party.

I think M$ has Sony beat bcause Halo is great... and they just purchased thier only real console FPS competition.

But that doesn't mean Sony hasn't made any good games... GT3 for realism in a racing game has no competition. The others that try just get smoked. The gameplay isn't quite as real as I would have liked it to be (like car damage) but it's still hella fun.

actually Dyne, the whole reason they packaged GT3 in with a PS2 is BECAUSE OF how well it sold and how great of a game it was. they dont just put any ol game in a bundle and try to sell it. no one would buy it. the bundle was the result of the game.

and yes Game, i agree with you there. people are sometimes VERY blind.

i do say that i think sony is better first party then MS, they both have thier killer perfect rated game. but beyond that. i think sony has more good or very good first party games over MS. true ms has been around less, but thats just apart of comparing. i cant say if they had been around longer, or if they had more. because they dont.

Now that I thought about it, Sony's is better (for the time being)... most of MS's first party power is in it's future releases of Fable, Kameo, Perfect Dark 2, and Halo 2.

I can't say that they would be better if given more time because that would be just as unfair as saying Sony's 1st party would be better than Nintendo's if given more time.
