The Animal Crossing Thread
Well, I guess I'm the first person on GT with the domestic version of Animal Crossing or the first person able to draw himself away from the game to make a thread about it.
Anyhow, the game is rather cool, it's just well special in some way. It's not that you are driven by plot or even action in this game. I guess it's the whole sense of customization in the game and whatnot. Not to much the extras such as the NES games that come on the Memory Card. Well, anyone else get it? |
nope, my money right now is for kingdom hearts, but i do plan on getting it ASAP. so was it worth the money? (please keep in mind that i'm canadian and i have to pay like $80)
|
All my money is for SFA....
I'll buy it later hopefully... |
I plan to buy this weekend. Tell us more :D
|
Wow, there's so many games coming out for the Cube at the moment!!
Oh wait, what platform is Kingdom Hearts for?? PS2 right? ok.. :) We're still waiting for SMS. October 4!! :D:D |
Name: Danny
Town: Flushing (I find it funny that the Cat would actually want to vacation here.) Fruit: Orange Only Briefly played it. Was mean to the cat on the train. Spent 40 min thinking up a name for the town only to go with my original choice which is where I actually live. My eyes have little pupils in the middle of the eye. (Heard the responses to the questions the cat asks reflects the eye design.) Picked the Northeast house with the metal floor and wooden walls. Spent a long time trying to decide which house to pick too. Planted a few trees and flowers for Mr. Nook around Nook's Cranny and then met two residents and the mayor of the town. |
on a scale of 1 to 10, wut would you give it so far dan?
|
Wow this game is great.
Name: ~VIN~ Town: Funk Mo Fruit: Cherry I hate throwing my stuff out so I'm trying to collect everything. For some reason I haven't gotten a letter from the museum and I'm starting to have a very large collection of fossils. My guy doesn't look messed up, which is pretty good. Umm.. oh ya, I made my first payment. IMPORTANT TIP: When on the train and the cat asks you how much money you have, tell him you have a lot and you'll start off with a lot. I had to learn this the hard way. I give this game a 10 because I think this is everything I've been waiting for in a game plus I can't stop thinking about it. |

Yesterday was the first time I read a preview of the game, and just one paragraph got me excited! :D Man this can be so cool!!! :D How big is the world BTW? Big enough to keep busy? |
The town's not that big. Got the locations memorized and everything. But more animals will move in and whatnot.
Visited the island today...which I named Baka Island. Brought back a bunch of coconuts and sold them for a nice price. Put up a flag there of a texture I made. The texture of the flag is the one I'm currently wearing. A mushroom from Mario that's orange and the shirt and hat itself is blue. |
If you don't visit other towns, then where do the other villagers move and how can you come into contact with them after they do?
|
Guess if they leave with no other memory card town to go to then they might still be in the game's data to receive letters but just not live in your town.
Started a new town this morning. A lot better than before. More kinds of animals closer together makes for more convient and interesting tasks. Like the new overall design of the town too. Only thing is everyone loves to get clothes and no furniture. The strange thing is the only one I miss from my old town is the mean yellow rabbit Gaston. Fun having him insult me. Oh well. Name: Danny Town: Viridian (Gonna name the island Whirl Island later) Fruit: Orange Wanna trade fruits VIN? |
Sure, but I need some pears from somewhere because one of my villagers is asking for one.
But I can't give you the code right now because I ran out of cherries. They should be ready soon because I've been waiting three days now. |
I just picked up crossing this afternoon, not much play time since I started around 8 and everyone went to sleep around 10... Anyhow
Name: Jonathan Town: Empora Fruit: Peaches:roll: |
Name: Lampman
Town: Da Brikz Fruit: cherries im kinda interested in how we are supposed to trade and stuff... fill me in guys!! this game is confusing me.. oh and can someone tell me what to do with the soccer balls and basketballs that are lying around? |
To trade talk with Nook and select other things. Type in the person's name and town and then select what you want to give the person. Nook will give you a password and you give it to the person to enter to receive the object you gave them.
Dunno about the balls. I usually kick them all into the river. |
The balls are there for certain events. Sometimes the animals would ask you for thje ball and you will have to kick it to the animal.
|
Name: Moe
Town: TownCity Fruit: Cherries so, how do you enter other people's towns? |
Name: Jimmy
Town: Puck Donations are accepted :D |
|
What fruit you have James? I'm in desprate need...and Wendell the wanderer will be gone tomorrow!
|
My fruits are peaches.
|
Does anyone know any town tunes, fr the music sheet?
|
I will get this game in 5 minutes... My brother just called and told me he purchased the game. he will be hom in 5 minutes. can't wait.
|
How does this donation thing work when none of us are connected by phone lines or anything? It doesn't make sence? How can I give you a code and you enter it and your game recognize my donation? This is just crazy!
|
No it isn't.
It's like... like... uh... you know... that thing also uses it too... you know... the thing that uses the codes... Well, I forget how to explain it so don't think about it so much. |
It's absolutley mind boggling!
|
Well, the game gives you a code that in some way way recognizes not only the person and town but the item that is being sent. I believe Nintendo created a secret code which actually plays out like a sentence to the game. Like in that 28 character thing, it would say something like "Penguino from Erasmus has sent 2 Oranges to Danny in Viridian." Ofcourse the game will probably only have phrases like Penguino,Erasmus, oranges, Danny,Viridian...
|
It's impossible though. The game cannot be pre-programmed with people and information before people get the game and this information cannot be received because the games are in no way connected physically by wires or anything! Arghh!!
Can someone please elaborate! |
Okay people this is really simple... You guys are thinking too hard about this. If I send danny some peaches, I get a code from Tom Nook, and that code obviously corresponds with the item that I have. So when danny is in his town and goes to Tom Nooks store he puts in the code and voila he gets peaches. We as the player dont get to make up the secret code, the game has them and obviously it's set so that they work regardless of who sends it, it's just more about the secret code, like an actual code database in other games that will get you cheats... I realllly don't think when Danny goes to Nooks store he will see my name as the sender... That's my 2 cents. I think we should try this, if anyone wants to try lemme know.
|
i'll try Peabody, tell me wut to do and i'm there.

Don't have yet. :( But will buy very very soon. |
MUST BUY SOON!!!
|
I got it but I haven't touched it yet. Homework... Thanks for the clearing that up Peabody. I see what you mean now. Okay back to work...
|
ok Darkmaster, let's do this... I'll give you a list of the items that are in my catalog, I have:
1. Shovel 2. umbrella 3. lunar lander 4. various types of stationary 5. plaid shirt 6. closet 7. tennis (NES game) 8. Golf (NES game) I'll just name those to start off. I can't remember all my items off the top. If you have a request for an item lemme know. Thereafter I'll go to Tom Nooks shop and get the code for you |
ok Peabody, lets do something basic. just give me some crappy stationary for now. any kind will do. tell me when you get the code.
|
I've only played about 10 minutes. All I've done is plant some flowers in front of Nook's and talked with the neighbors. Please tell me it gets better!!!
|
It gets better
The way I look at it is, Animal Crossing is a game to be played over a long span of time. It's REALLY about starting at rock rock bottom, and building your way up to something really enjoyable, and even when you reach that point there's more to aquire. So as a "life simulation" would have it, for the game to be cool you have to work hard at it... Well those are my 2 cents. Oh and Darkmaster I'll have your password soon.
