PVG Challenges Your Best To A War Of Words!
 

Hey Guys,

Ok, Xantar and I have thought of the idea to make all of our members think, and what better way to make someone think? A Debate!

Simply Put There Will Be 2, 5 Member Teams, 5 that best represent Purevideogames.com, and 5 that represent gametavern.net

the PVG team has already been selected, it consists of:

Myself
Xantar ( of both GT and PVG)
Nitorious_1 ( Admin of PVG)
Jesterspawn ( Mod Of PVG)
and Indigo Montoya ( Mod Of PVG)

Now, Further Down This Announcment are the rules, when you want to submit your 5 man team, give Me a PM and i will add you.

Deadline is July 27th 2002, The Debate Starts On The 29th, and Ends On The 31st.

The procedure for the debate is as follows:

After Marc ( The Ibrox Fox) posts the question, the teams will have one day to prepare an opening
statement no longer than a paragraph. This opening statement will lay out in
general terms the team's position on the matter and their reasons for taking
that position. Teams are not allowed to address each other in their opening
statements or address each other's positions. To help this along, the opening
statements will not be posted by the teams but send as a private message to Marc who will post them all at once when he receives them all.

After the opening statements are posted, the teams may begin debating. This
consists of making posts as normal. The group of 5 must alternate
making posts. In other words, if a member makes a post, he cannot make another
one until his team-mate makes a post. Team-Mates are encouraged to communicate with
each other, and a member is allowed to address points directed at one of his team-mates

To keep the debate within reasonable limits (we all have lives, after all),
there will be a character limit on posts (30,000)

All the normal forum rules are in effect for this debate (i.e. no flaming,
post-cramming, advertising etc.).

Because some debates are very substantial and others are not so much so, the end
of the debate will be called by the moderator. Judges will then make their
decision as to which team performed best in the debate.

Judges will ignore the actual position taken by the team and concentrate solely
on how well it is argued in making their decision. A team that takes an
unorthodox position and successfully defends it will therefore be well rewarded.
The panel of judges will each vote for who they think had the best argument and
the teams will be awarded one point per vote that they receive

I would participate, but I was too lazy to read your long explanation. So unless you shorten that up, count me out.

Its a debate... and they pick 5 people from each forum... and theres judges and stuff... and they get xantar

This sounds like an interesting concept thus far it sounds like it's gonna be an mental manslaught but eh that's just my 2 cents.

Now, I wonder who from GT will step up to the plate. Who will be the first to take a stand and lead their team to victory?

nahhh...Im not very good at that kind of thing...I think Quiet Mike should be on the team though, definately.

Justin and gekko would be good choices, since they have different views, but are able to express both of them very well. Even though some of them are wrong.

well if you know how to get to pVG ( Address is in my sig) we are now called the Gamesquad Network ( Only because we own the network :P)

I dont think Im very fitted for debate seeing as I failed debate class.

There's a character limit on posts which nullifies my chief advantage. Of course, it also somewhat handicaps sdtPikachu. He's a rat after my own heart. :)

I'd join, but debates like these are stupid and EPetit is a jackass. Thus, I'll just sit quietly off to the side and ignore all of you.

I'm in... I've been on the debate team in school and I'm a bit smarter than I seem (then again, I think I have to be...lol). I've also judged debates before, so I'd be open to doing that as well, as all of the judges obviously cannot be from PVG, and with the debate moderator coming from PVG, this is not a "normal" debate anyway... we would need an impartial moderator. Anyhow, do GT needs team members and judges....so

yeah, if you need members, count me in!!

Pika is already a judge, i asked him first, because i didn't know we were gonna have N-sider judges.......meh, oh well, you guys get a GT judge then :P

It's only fair that Pika becomes a valid candidate, seeing as you not only have Xantar as a member, but someone who also decides topics... So if Pika wants to, I reckon he should be allowed. :unsure:

Actually, we're planning to write two of the topics and let you GT members come up with two others. Then we'll just go through them at random. The ultimate decision is up to Marc, but I'm not against having Pika for the GT team if he wants to do it. The only problem is he and I keep agreeing with each other.

I actually chatted with BAB the other day, and he said he didn't want to debate. So now I get to taunt him for being a wussy. :D

Ofcourse calling baB a wuss does ntohng, I mean this guy has been called it all I'm sure. I've had no interest in debating in general for quite some time due to several people I speak with on AIM. Hence, the fact I try and avoid it as much as possible on these forums.

I generally hate to make double post, but I think it was a tad more fitting to do it here.

Since, I really didn't care to participate in this debate in any manner someone who shall remain Xanny-less has taken it upon himself to hold it over my head. Now as a whole, I could careless about how GT does in this whole debate thing, but since someone has taken their time and energy to extend a personal invite. I would have no other choice but then to accept.

So I'm not joining this whole debate as a part of a GT team or an anti-PVG team, I'm just hear to shut one big mouthed retired mod up for once and for all.

It would be unfortunate for me to miss all the debates, so I may have to drop out :(.

Don't worry. We'll let the debate go on long enough that you'll get your posts in. Besides, formulating strategy with your teammates is a big part of the debate, too. You can do that with e-mail.

Hmm, that should give Xanny some time to come up with something a lot more challenging than "wuss" maybe something of a bit higher ranks. Maybe next, he will move up to pu$$ then he will add the y and hey before long he will be cussing like there is no tomorrow.
