Even though its the 5th game in the series and the 4th in as many years, Assassin's Creed 3 has been revealed and will take place in America during the era of the Revolutionary War

Thats what I thought too.

Theyre probably going to make 3 more games set in this time frame, then do 3 more in a different time frame and its just never going to end.

I don't remember Ubuisoft every saying that ACIII would focus on Desmond. That seemed to be fan speculation (along with several other time periods including the American Revolution). Personally, I think a completely Desmond led game would be lame.

Ubisoft has never said that Assassin's Creed is a trilogy.

There can and will be more AC games. One of them might eventually focus on Desmond.

It would be a weird game though, without the focus on historical fiction.

I think people are talking about the end of Assassin's Creed Revelations, which seemed to have hinted at jumping to the current day.

I believe Ubisoft has said that Desmond's story concludes in 2012, and would be odd for it to go beyond that in the real world

Are you sure they said that? I heard that about Ezio's story, I don't recall it being said about Desmond.

There was an interview sometime between Brotherhood and Revelations that basically said "Revelations will be the last we see of Ezio, and 3 will be desmond's game and the end of the trilogy."

That was about it.

I remember reading this article where it was said:

“The meta story is supposed to be carried on forever. We can go on with this brand where we want to – that’s the exciting part about the way it’s constructed. As we’ve said all along, this is the end of Ezio’s story arc; it’s a great place to jump in the franchise and anyone who has played the previous games should have some satisfaction with the answers they get at the end.”

Saying that revelations was the end of Ezio, doesn't really mention Desmond though.

Well, they've told plenty of Desmond's story without him being "the focus," so I don't see why that necessarily has to change.

Ok this is making me curious. What's the deal with this Ezio/Desmond business? Are they the main characters of the previous games?? How does that work, I thought the games were hundreds of years apart...

They are the main characters. Desmond lives in the modern age, where this company has invented a device called the animus, which uses genetic "memory" to let you relive parts of your ancestor's lives. Ezio is his ancestor, and lived during the Renaissance.

You spend most of the game playing as Ezio, but it occasionally jumps back to Desmond.

Nope that's the premise of the series.

Which is why people wanted/expected Desmond's story to end.

Was hoping for Shogun era ninja assassins. Guess this will have to do. I must say, the assassin looks ridiculously out of place in this era. It made sense during the Renaissance period to have an exuberant costume, but now it's like... something more practical would sell the immersion, I think.

Well, it does work as camouflage in the snow. Perhaps he will have multiple suits throughout the game?

Well you can always dye your costume and stuff, but yeah it's basically dumb in the revolutionary war to have that outfit. Like I respected the whole desmond in the hoodie and jeans thing. It still looked like the assassin outfit without looking out of place in the modern times.

That's just fucking dumb.

Almost regretting that thread I made for revelations now.

I'll still play 3, but if Desmond's story doesn't end, I'm done. I can't keep spending money on games with basically no replay value after 15 hours.
