Goldeneye Wii Trailer

Don't know what to think, doesn't look much better than original.

But added some cool stuff.

not quite sure what to think of this one. Time will tell I guess.

Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer

Ehck. On one hand, it's great that we have another hardcore Wii title.

On the other hand, it's completely missing the soul of the original. Not to mention the whole Brosnan-missing thing. Activision has a high chance of screwing this up. The graphics look like crap. Halfway between nostalgia and a decent looking Wii title (No More Heroes 2 or SMG2?) this doesn't look like it'll hit any kind of decent benchmark.

If it actually does get released, I'll be Day 1.

So yeah I guess to get around it, Activision "modified" the game since it was a legal mess.

The multiplayer looks like shit.

I'm not sure if I feel sorry for the guys who spent hundreds of hours of hard work making the Goldeneye: Source mod for STEAM or if I feel good for them because this train wreck looks like...well a train wreck.

Pretty sure Goldeneye: Source supports up to 32 people.

And it's free. And it's on PC. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer

It looks like they got Call of Duty into my Goldeneye.
I realize they had to update it a bit, but Aiming Down the Sight, the Running, all seems like they took a CoD wii engine and retro-fitted it.

And here's a video showing classic controller support.

Well its actually like 40 characters.

The "8" characters just seem to be the ones from actual Bond films.

Now reading up on this http://wii.ign.com/articles/109/1099498p1.html

It seems like its a "re-imagining" of the film. I'm sure it would have been okay if they had chosen ANY other Bond film, but eh movies have remakes, and now I guess so do games.

It seems to me that the same people who get excited about a game like this are the same type of people who get excited when a old TV series is made into a major motion picture.

Angrist 06-17-2010 10:34 AM

Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer

Well, I'm not at all excited about this. I loved the original, but this remake looks aweful. Graphics are hardly better than on the N64... gameplay looks like a weird mix of classic and new.

Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer

Make it $20 and I'll be all over it. Looks sweet to me. Graphics are updated, but it still has the old-school feel to it. Not sure if that was on purpose or just a fact of low-powered Wii spiced with laziness, but I like it either way. For $20, that is.

Btw, Angrist, not that this game looks amazing graphically, but go back and look at screens of the original. The character models alone are 100 times better than the N64 ones. I can actually tell who it is I'm looking at, instead of some smudgy face!

Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer

Are any of the people from the original team who made the first game working on this? Like some of the people from Rare, or from New Radical Design?

I liked Perfect Dark for 360, and the Timesplitters games... so if they got some of the developers back, it might just be good. If not, then I won't buy it out of principal, even if it gets good reviews. It's like if Activision made a Kingdom Hearts game.. F that... I'm not going to buy something just because of the licence.

I'd also say it looks better than Nightfire from last gen.

I would fall into that boat depending on the show.

The way I see it, thanks to production problems we aren't seeing a new Bond movie for quite so time so if this fills the gap until then, I'm all for it.

Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer

Looks like they have taken some creative liberties with the source material and the original game.

It has some elements from Call of Duty, but not others. Seems like you walk over guns to pick em up, aren't limited to just two weapons at a time.

Activision has announced this game will also come bundled with a golden classic controller for those of you who prefer that.

Behind the scenes of Goldeneye
Shows that this game will add a ton of new stuff, since the Valentin club scene is brand new as is the bank/mall scene.

And its shaping up nicely.

Some new videos, which really shows that this game is coming together

Single player footage, which shows they are expanding on scenarios from the movie.

Split-screen multiplayer.

Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer

Dear Science multiplayer looks fun as hell. Split-screen multiplayer will forever be better than just playing random people online.

I'm deeply considering buying this.

Re: Goldeneye Wii Trailer

Not surprising, but I ended up buying this, what can I say I'm a Bond man.

The game is fantastic so far. It captures the feel of the movie (you get most of the big setpieces so far and even some added ones) and it just feels like Bond.

I love the fact that you are able to go through the level with stealth as your main weapon or go guns ablaze. I'm not the world's greatest spy so I eventually end up in a firefight, but pretty good at clearing rooms once I have an idea of the enemies location.

Even though it borrows heavily from the CoD frame of FPS, aiming down the sights, grenade indicator, etc, it does a great job of feeling like a Bond experience. At least to me.

Haven't even touched multi yet
