All we know is you can pre-order it, and there's a blog. Release date is set for November 9, 2010.

Let's see how many people go for this one.

Call of Duty returns this November, but this is a Call of Duty like no other, this is Black Ops.

Now you will witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and take part in off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done! From Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam.

Call of Duty: Black Ops features stunning cinematic graphics and intense gameplay that puts you right at the heart of the action!
I'm seeing the stunning, cinematic, and intense buzzwords in there. Oh boy.

It already sounds like it's going to suck.

People eat the CoD shit up after Modern Warfare. After people bought World at War they realized it wasn't as good, and then they either:

a) sucked it up and just played it and kept playing online
b) sold it and went back to playing CoD 4

I kinda foresee the same thing happening here.

Never played it, but I thought a lot of people loved WaW MP? Or was it just the introduction of zombies?

But I 'unno. Not interested in this at all, either way. Nothin against Treyarch, but the little joy I get out of CoD doesn't come from bi-yearly reiteration

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

A lot of people liked the Nazi Zombies, but I was very whatever about it. I played it online because most of my friends enjoyed playing it.

It was decent for what it was worth.

This literally shows me nothing.

And it looks a little too crazy to be considered Black Ops. I mean wasn't the original Splinter Cell more black ops stuff when you were running around in area's you weren't supposed to?

I personally enjoy WWII Shooters more than modern warfare, I don't know that's just me. WaW I didn't like though, I really enjoyed Call Of Duty 2. As for modern shooters, I think medal of honor is going to be sweet!!

Yeah because Treyarch was the group that took it upon itself to make WaW, which is inferior to the IW WWII shooters. At least they didn't try and go back to them again.

The CoD franchise has nowhere to go but forward.

Well that's not true, it has tons of backwards spaces to go as well.

Treyarch gets a bum rap, but I don't care for MW much anyhow.

They get a bum rap because they tried to give a really really good FPS franchise a shot and they didn't do as good of a job on it.

That's the issue really.

Something just feels off about this trailer

Looks pretty good. I'm all for non-WWII games.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

It seems a little too in your face for Black Ops, like they thought it would sound cool so they put it in the title.

It also seems like they're trying too hard to have the same presentation and cinematic effect that IW used in their Call of Duty campaign.

And there's not gonna be much different in the multiplayer aspect I'm sure.

These yearly releases have seemed to have turned me off from CoD a bit.

The multiplayer trailer, which looks like a ton of other multiplayers I've seen.

- 3 pillars of Black Ops are Compete, Customize, and Create.

- COD unlocking system is new, it now uses a currency of "points". You earn them as you play.

- Contracts are time limited challenges that you purchase with COD Points (CP). There are three categories -- Mercenaries, Operations, Specialist. Each is attached to certain play styles and in-game achievements. The harder the contract the better the reward.

- There will also be gambling in COD. Wager Match - you ante up and put your COD Points on the line and wager on matches. The top three players split the pot.

- Four brand new game modes -- separate from your standard rank progression in multiplayer competitive modes and they are the following:

Gun Game - A series of progressive weapons, from pistol to shotgun to sniper rifle, granted to the player after kills. Like in the good old days of counter strike.

One in the Chamber - everyone just has a pistol with one bullet and three lives.

Sticks and Stones - you're equipped with a Crossbow and Throwing knife and Tomahawk.

Sharp Shooter - all players start with the same randomly selected weapon, which cycles. So everyone has the same weapon at the same time.

- There will be something called Combat Training against bots, it will have its own progression system different from the actual multiplayer. This mode was introduced because there are a lot of people who don't take the game online. They say this is a large amount of the COD population. For the first time in COD you can multiplayer...by yourself....or with friends to test maps, weapons, and practice tactics. All in this mode.

- Your character model will show up on the menu so you can see how customization of your dude looks. People will know your perk selection at a glance because it will affect how you look.

- All tactical weapons on the left bumper/trigger and lethal things on the right.

- Equipment includes motion sensors, jammers, and so on.

- Another new change is a batch of special weapons that players will get in Care Packages -- including the Death machine (mini-gun) and Grim Reaper ("nasty" grenade launcher).

- Other killstreak rewards: Napalm Strike, Gunship, Mortar Team, the Radio Controlled Car, SAM Turret (it takes down a chopper).

- On customization, players have a special attachment to their weapons -- so they can place clan tags, decals and more on their weapons. Differently painted guns with custom targeting reticules and decals on everything were shown in the video. Flamethrowers, sniper rifles, shotguns... everything can be customized with stuff you've earned and unlocked. There's an emblem editor as well - apparently has a lot of options like layering, rotating, scaling, etc...

- Theater Mode was demoed. Switch the player between any players perspective -- first or third person -- or free cam to move within a 3D space.
Some of these actually sound interesting.
