NFL Playoff Pick'em

The Rules: Pick all 12 playoff teams, rank them 1-12. Every time they win, you get that many points. Try and make your first weekend's losers your 1-4.

Here are the teams in the playoffs:

NFC:
1. New Orleans Saints (13-3)
2. Minnesota Vikings (12-4)
3. Dallas Cowboys (11-5)
4. Arizona Cardinals (10-6)
5. Green Bay Packers (11-5)
6. Philadelphia Eagles (11-5)

AFC:
1. Indianapolis Colts (14-2)
2. San Diego Chargers (13-3)
3. New England Patriots (10-6)
4. Cincinnati Bengals (10-6)
5. New York Jets (9-7)
6. Baltimore Ravens (9-7)

All submissions must be posted before this Saturday at 4:30 pm est.

Re: NFL Playoff Pick'em

I might change my picks by Saturday, but we'll see. I just want to get something down. I'm not picking the Cowboys to win a game, regardless of their hot streak.

12. San Diego Chargers
11. New Orleans Saints
10. Indianapolis Colts
9. Minnesota Vikings
8. New England Patriots
7. Philadelphia Eagles
6. Green Bay Packers
5. Cincinnati Bengals
4. Dallas Cowboys
3. Baltimore Ravens
2. Arizona Cardinals
1. New York Jets

I'm not really sure what to do with the NFC this year. It's very well balanced. The AFC is very clear to me, so I'm definitely sure about my picks in respect to that conference.

Re: NFL Playoff Pick'em

Zebra, I think you may have inverted your order? Top team should be 12, bottom team should be 1 (when a team wins you get how many points you assigned to that team).

I'm thinking I should put the Eagles at the top just like you put the Packers at the top, because they're my team, but I really don't know. If they hadn't lost yesterday then I definitely would have done that.

I don't have it in my heart to pick against the Eagles. I keep going back and forth, thinking the Eagles can't play that badly and lose 2 in a row to Dallas, but they very well might. Alright...

It's interesting that three of the wild card matchups are games from this past weekend. The only difference is that the Cincinnati game moves to Cincinnati instead of staying in New York.

Yeah, I find this strange too. I know there was one scenario where all four could have been the same. I believe if Houston got in and played at New England somehow...

I'm curious to see how Dallas, New England, and Minnesota all play. I think the Eagles are done for and I wouldn't be all that shocked to see a close game between the Jets and the Bengals.

On the other hand, I always suck ass at predicting football so everyone should ignore me. :D

Wow, seven players. I think that's the most we've had in quite some time. I'll try to update the standings frequently.

I really hope I can pull off the win this time. 2 times in 3 years. That would be tasty.

Woo! Karma is good, the universe is in balance.

WOOOOOOOOO!

I am so happy they are gone. I can never forgive Cedric Benson for what he did to the Bears. That was totally appropriate for Thomas Jones and the Jets to beat down the Bengals.

Now the Cowboys just need to crush the Eagles and everything will be peachy good.

Bond 01-09-2010 08:19 PM

Re: NFL Playoff Pick'em

What exactly did he do to the Bears again? Seems like an okay fellow to me.

KillerGremlin 01-09-2010 09:25 PM

Re: NFL Playoff Pick'em

The Bears used their first round draft pick on him. He was like the 4th overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft. Then Benson had contract issues and blew off training and missed all of the summer training. He then had issues with the Bears coaching/management. He was in contention with Bears head coach Love Smith, and in my opinion he diminished the [successful] career of running back Thomas Jones who was playing great for Chicago. Then, to top things off, Benson went and fortified his criminal record before the Bears decided to kick his ass off the team for being an idiot.

More here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cedric_...#Chicago_Bears

There are two sides to EVERY story, and the other side is that the Bears management is awful. The Bear's management is just as responsible as Benson is....and I doubt I'll ever be able to forgive the Bear's GM either.

Well, I'm not sure why I picked the Eagles. That was stupid. I was right about the Jets at least.

Now rooting for...Chargers-Saints (Packers as a backup)

Hmm, I guess picking the Patriots was a bad idea too? 14-0 Ravens about 4 minutes into this game. Crazy.

Wow. Not a good start for the Pack. What's up with these games? It's turnover city.

Re: NFL Playoff Pick'em

Out of all the teams that have won/are winning so far, I didn't expect any of them to be ahead.
This is ridiculous.

Dear Green Bay :what the hell?.

Bond 01-10-2010 05:12 PM

Re: NFL Playoff Pick'em

This is ridiculous. Rodgers is understandably nervous, but our defense is too good to be thrown all over like this.

Charles Woodson is a godsend. Best defensive player in the NFL today.

And just like that, the momentum has died.

Shall be a fun time.

And wow, Simpsons 20th anniversary.

Re: NFL Playoff Pick'em

Fitzgerald just broke Woodson's ankles...

Bond 01-10-2010 06:39 PM

Re: NFL Playoff Pick'em

Fitzgerald gets away with way too much contact if you ask me. Woodson would have gotten that call if he was a pro bowl WR instead of a CB.

Amazing catch by Jennings, though. And it's back to a 14 point game.

Back to 7 after the onside kick....Pack coming back.

Bond 01-10-2010 06:58 PM

THAT WAS NOT ROUGHING THE PASSER. WHAT THE HELL?

And Fitzgerald literally ran over the DB. This is ridiculous.

Wonderful officiating today.

Bond 01-10-2010 07:07 PM

Re: NFL Playoff Pick'em

Awesome catch by James Jones - really a great guy and player.

Hopefully the officiating will improve during this next drive so we can actually have a chance.

Yes! Charles Woodson is again amazing, even in coin tosses.

Wow, GB got sooooooo lucky he missed. As much as I hate GB, Arizona deserved to miss that kick.

Back in '98, Vikings kicker Gary Anderson hadn't missed a kick since before dinosaurs, and he had an easy kick to take the Vikings to the Super Bowl... and missed, and Arizona took the place that was rightfully ours. So I was quite happy to watch them throw away their free ticket to round 2 :D

That was Atlanta, not Arizona. Last year was Arizona's first ever Super Bowl appearance.

And damn...A defensive TD to end it. Weirdly appropriate I guess.

Typhoid 01-10-2010 08:08 PM

Re: NFL Playoff Pick'em

Man, tough loss.

Warner just kept picking apart GB's pass defense the entire game though. GB couldn't seem to really protect the middle too well.

That was a bad way to end it though, especially for Rodgers.
