The DVD bootlegs from Hong Kong are sweet though. :D

gekko 05-15-2002 08:59 PM

New York has bootlegs on everything. Sad really.

DeathsHand 05-15-2002 09:07 PM

I'd see it tomorrow, but I doubt I'd be able to... maybe I can though.. I didn't get tickets, but it's a thursday, and I dunno how many of the people would take off work to go see it (if I could get up early)... yep...

But chances are I'll have to see it later... some other day... in the future...

ghettodude 05-15-2002 09:48 PM

instead of showing an employee screening for the people that work at the theatre... they are showing it tonight and making people pay... :(

PAY!!! :(

Joeiss 05-15-2002 09:54 PM

WOOHOO!!!!! Iam going to see it tonight at 12:01 am!!! Yes! I am going with my dad, bro and sis. Damn this is going to be so sweet.

I am also seeing it tomorrow at 3:30 pm, Friday at 7 pm and Saturday at 3:30 pm. Damn I am pumped about this movie! YEAH!!!!!!

Happydude 05-15-2002 09:55 PM

anyhoo...as for Episode 2...i fell asleep in the theatre during episode 1...i have a feeling the same will happen to me if i go see 2, so i'm not going to go, i'm not really that big of a starwars fan, i personally think that it's not very interesting. kinda crappy if you ask me, i rather watch star trek.....no wait...i rather not.

I don't think he works at SilverCity Richmond Hill.... I think he works at one of the downtown theatres.... But don't worry, you can stalk me!

:(

I mean, don't stalk me. Hey, if you work at Silver Richmond Hill, you gotta get me some free food! Becuase I live like 2 minutes away from there, and go often.

and if the manager lets me, and if i get hired.....hopefully i will!

Perfect Stu 05-15-2002 11:24 PM

I've just seen it.

:D

No, I'm not joking.

It was a very good movie. The most entertaining Star Wars movie in my opinion.

Let's just say that in this movie, Lucas wanted to show us all why they call Yoda the MASTER.

I'll leave it at that.

You on now danny boy?

What time is it ova there? It's 8:20pm here. GC is coming @ MIDNIGHT.

I'm going launch soon.

Chinese subtitles are ok.....it makes it look more illegal, and that's a good thing

Drunk Hobbit 05-16-2002 06:26 AM

It's 6:26 am here. I usually wake up around 4:00 am to get my work done.

Some were really well done like AI, Jurassic Park, and Pearl Harbor, while you could tell Lord Of The Rings was rushed. That one was hardly viewable.

bobcat 05-16-2002 06:29 AM

wtf do u do @ 4am?

Yeh, I know someone who can get all the latest videos from the cinemas somehow.

Pretty cool connections

Ridley 05-16-2002 08:03 AM

I'll probably go see it sometime next week with some friends. I can't wait to see it though. Plus Anakin is played by a Canadian in this one, eh? :canada:

;)

DeathsHand 05-16-2002 02:58 PM

I sawed it I sawed it!

I likesed it... wasn't the best star wars movie... better than episode 1... maybe better than 1 of the others or so, I dunno I suck at judging things... but why judge? I liked it so :p

I went at noon... there was hardly anybody there... 'course it is a weekday :D

"Plus Anakin is played by a Canadian in this one, eh?"

Too bad for that, ya? *puts on critic act* Oh the acting was terrible, ESPECIALLY Anakin... *end critic act*...

I don't see the big deal with the acting... then again, I don't consider acting bad unless it's horrible... like in the older RE games :D

Crash 05-16-2002 03:55 PM

i saw it too, and i totally disagree with DH, I thought the acting by Hayden Christianson (speline) was terrific!

There was not real space shooting kinda effects but it was good.

I trully think that John Williams was a little too "cocky" with his music though. You're not supposed to notice the music in a movie, it's supposed to add to the picture, but a few times during the movie, i said to myself. "gosh, that was a weird transition in the music"

georgie I think took too many clues from other movies in this one. especially gladiator. You'll see what i mean if you go see it.

overall rating on the movie: 8

and it was really long. the part with yoda made my laugh my ax off. it was rediculous!

No no no, you see, I've heard many critics say that the acting in the movie overall was bad, and that Hayden... Chr.... Anakin's acting was the worst of them all... And I was just joking around... I hate critics :p I didn't have a problem with the acting either...

gekko 05-16-2002 04:02 PM

I thought the love story was way too corny. However, it was also really necessary to show the character of Anakin. But this was a very, very good movie.

And man! Yoda kicks ass!

it seems people, sepecially critics, have mixed feelings about this movie...

I have heard more bad things about it that good things, not here at GT, everybody seems to like it here...

however good or bad it is, it will never beat Return of the Jedi.

I hopefully will see it this weekend...

Andromida_ 05-16-2002 05:26 PM

I'm going to go se it with my family and my boyfriend next weekend... the place we go is usually only really crowded the first few days the movie is out... the rest of the time it doesn't have that many people there unless you get there late.

Crash 05-16-2002 05:27 PM

looks like i am going to be going again to see this movie again tonight..

Joeiss 05-16-2002 07:06 PM

OMG. I saw the midnight movie, and it was sweet! Holy crapola. I have never seen so many Star Wars fanatics since the Sci Fi Expo of last year! This movie was great!!!! I do not know if I liked it more than Episode I... I just really liked that movie.

I think that the Yoda fight was astonishing, although it could have been a little longer. I do feel that Yoda was the highlight of the show. I loved how he didn't grab his lightsaber out of its holster, he used the "force grab" to get it. That was great. Oh man, Yoda is GOD!!!

I also liked how they set up the whole Boba/Jango Fett story. Boba Fett is in the top 3 lists of favourite characters of a lot of fans, so it is great that there is a little plot devoted to them. I have a feeling that Boba will kill Mace Windu in Episode III, because, well, I think that is pretty obvious.

Oh, and Obi Wan is a sneaky little muda fuka, now isn't he?! I really liked how he acted, and I liked how everybody acted in this film. I feel that Hayden Christianson did a great job, but I do not know how to judge acting, so I do not know if my opinion is valid.

All in all... I think that this was a great movie. 8 out of 10. I was really pumped up about this movie... I watched Star Wars on on Monday, Empire Strikes Back on Tuesday, Return of the Jedi and Phantom Menace on Wednesday, and then I watched Attack of the Clones twice on Thursday. Damn Star Wars is great.

fingersman 05-16-2002 08:12 PM

Well I not that hyped about it.....not a big star wars fan I am.

No no no....I just want to see how "Yoda owns your weak ass" as some critics said he did. :D
That's the only part I want to see really...cause I just can't imagine him fighting. lol

gekko 05-16-2002 09:48 PM

He's Master Yoda for a reason. Anakin thinks he's a better swordsman than Yoda, ROFL!

He was doing good with 2 sabers though, until he screwed it up and let one get hit.

GameMaster 05-17-2002 12:01 AM

Ok, you can all stop giving away the cool parts now

At least wait until Monday... :)

One Winged Angel 05-17-2002 11:48 PM

I just saw it like an hour ago. And I must say that it made up for The Phantom Menace. The action and battle scenes were awesome. of course Yoda was my favorite part... I thought Yoda couldn't do nething cuz he was too old.. until now.

The acting was ok. The colosium part was really cool also. All those Jedis, there were at least 20 of them in it.

I would strongly recommend seeing it!

There were ALOT more than 20 Jedi fighting against the Trade Federation Droids. I would say that there were upwards to 50.

designated_GM3R 05-18-2002 01:50 PM

Actually, around 200 Jedi showed up for the Collesium showdown.

Okay. I thought I heard that number, but I wasn't sure. So I wa just being conservative.

Ginkasa 05-18-2002 02:20 PM

I don't think it was 200. 100 tops, though I'm thinking more around 50-90 Jedi.

Joeiss 05-18-2002 02:21 PM

Sorry for the double post... But Star Wars Episode II racked in 30 million dollars on Thursday.

Quote:

The final take of $30,141,417. established a new record for a weekday non-holiday opening. However, the one-day record belongs to "Spider-Man," which opened to $39.4 million May 3, a Friday.

"Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" opened to $28.5 million in 1999. Ticket prices have increased in the interim.

Fox is not predicting how much the new "Star Wars" film may make in its first weekend, but industry observers project it will earn more than $100 million between Thursday and Sunday. It is not expected to break the three-day total of $114 million set by "Spider-Man."

The box office comparisons between "Attack of the Clones" and "Spider-Man" are inevitable. But "Star Wars" is playing on just 6,000 screens in North America; "Spider-Man" opened on more than 7,500 screens, increasing its earning potential.

A broader comparison between "Star Wars: Episode II" and "Spider-Man" reveals some notable differences: "Spider-Man" cost an estimated $125 million to make; "Star Wars: Episode II" reportedly cost $80 million to $100 million. Columbia Pictures spent $50 million to market "Spider-Man"; industry observers believe Lucas spent around $30 million to market "Star Wars: Episode II."

Just saw episode 2. Loved it. And I did NOT like episode 1 at all.

Coudnt have had a better ending.

I also applaud John William's new theme''across the stars''

its amazing, the guy is about the croak and he still knocks out incredible music.
