Mafia Round 3 - Precautions
 

Immediately following the burning at the keeps courtyard, Mario Lover left to seek out his bed-ridden son. Maester Teuthida had brought some salves to ease the boy's itching yet his son was in constant discomfort. The Maester decided this was no case of hives but was rather red spots that the lad must have caught from one of the other children. The red spots were harmless in children but potentially fatal in adults. Mario thanks his lucky stars that he had the spots as a child. Teuthida claimed that he'd be able to fetch supplies to better ease the boy's suffering if he were allowed from the keep.

But Mario's brother was intent on not letting that happen. In fact, he'd taken many strange precautions lately. The king's first order of business had been to have all the cooks and servants killed. This of course was fruitless. Of the fifteen or so people he had killed, none of them turned out to be possessed. Though Mario did not believe in enchantments. This was the work of regular assassins through and through. Mario knew who he had to accuse.

The king entered the banquet hall later that evening, surrounded by his guards to call everyone to council. The queen had insisted that they feed another suspect to the flames. Some suggested Schadefreude of the royal guard, due to his overly mistrustful disposition of late. But one thing Mario had never expected was the Maester's accusation. Maester Teuthida stood up tall and said "The only person of late who has made themselves scarce is Lord Mario Lover. It pains me to say, but he may be posessed." The Red Priest grinned his fool's grin and nodded along with the Maester.

"Outrageous!", shouted Mario. "I have been scarce because I've been tending to my sick son. This was clearly the work of an assassin but we all turn a blind eye to the assassin in our midst. I say we feed him tot he fire." Many shouted in agreement including many of the guards, Dyne's sellsword, and the singer.

Fyacin didn't seem surprised, as if he was expecting this to happen all along.

That night in the courtyard Thespis played Fyacin a dirge as they prepared to set him aflame.

"Those who take up the secret fight
and takes lives and steal 'way by night
think they are faster than fate but we know
to hell is where assassins go"

Lord Dyne gave a nod to his pet sellsword Angrist who threw the torch atop Fyacin and the several gallons of oil that covered himself and the pyre. Fyacin shot up in flames, yet no spirit escaped his body. Just as Mario thought. No sorcery involved at all.

Just then the royal guard Sir Manasecret unsheathed his sword and made a dash for Mario and the King, screaming all the while. Mario tried to retreat but only fell on his behind. He could do nothing but try to shield his face from the blow. Just as Manasecret was upon him, a crossbow bolt caught him in the back. Manasecret collapsed on top of Lord Mario. Blood poured out of Manasecret's mouth onto Mario's doublet. The blood was followed by a ghostly apparition that seemed to crawl out of the mouth of Manasecret before stealing into the night sky.

Lord Mario could only stare on, in horror.

Copy and paste from the last thread in case you missed it:

So, several players have PMed asking for a clarification.

They say that one player has been asking them to quote the villager role PM to see if they're innocent and want to know if it's okay to quote their PM to them.

Normally I'd be against PM quoting but I had forgotten to mention that every player got the villager PM and I did not copy and paste it so there may be slight variations. So role PM sleuthing won't really get you anywhere.

Hmm, good job vigilante! We got one. I had my doubts that Fyacin was a bad guy and I guess I was right about that.

It's always dangerous to start voting for one person because then the bad guys can pile on and slip by unnoticed. I still have concerns about a few players out there..

Blast, my theory was wrong. Fyacin, why didn't you defend yourself a bit more?? :(
So then I guess Jeepnut isn't a (big) suspect either.

And yeah, good job vigilante.

Edit: Since Manasecret flew under the radar, it's hard to guess who his associates were. Or maybe it's ironic to think that they would drop hints so easily?

The mafia did not get a kill upon our throng.

Aha, my suspicions were correct. Manasecret got what was coming to him. It didn't matter if I voted for him or not.

As for further voting, I don't know who. I know I can trust Angrist, though, because it's what my gut is telling me.

I missed the whole of round 2.
Holy. Sorry guys. At least this train keeps moving without me - even though we voted out the wrong person and the vigilante did it for us. Haha.

Anyways, I will get this ball rolling, since I need to make up for last round.

I have a question...how exactly game specific do our posts need to be to be counted as one of our 2 needed posts per round? I mean, so far ive been trying to stay "in character" so to speak, but lets use for instance the post I just made in the thread for round 3. Is that good enough to count for one of my posts?

You don't have to be "in character". As long as you're not talking about something that has 0% relevance to the game, you're fine.

Nice shot vigilante. One down, three to go.

I did have my doubts about Fyacin and it seems I was right. I think in general in this game, it's good to be weary of the pile-on vote this early in the game. Too easy for the mafia to slip in their votes among the crowd and ensure that a villager is killed.

I wouldn't doubt that the first person in this round to reach a couple votes will quickly get piled on by the mafia. Watch the people who make the third or later vote to kill someone, especially if it seems like the person is getting voted off for a random reason.

Verizon is seriously pissing me off. Finally back online.

I didn't think Fyacin would be a baddie with a title like assassin. That would have been too obvious. Thought could be the vigilante but apparently not.

I'd probably go with the quoterman too if I didn't run into him so early in the game...but...

!vote The Germanator A shot in the dark. Just feels weird with everyone going after Jason1 after he admitted to being slightly confused. And shan't be voting for folks the quoterman assured me are goodies...for now.

As of right now, you claim to know that Schadenfreude isn't a threat, but it sounds more like you're trying to protect a team-mate. And since the Mafia all know each other, that sort of points to you.

Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to ask the seer to contact me via PM. Obviously nothing against the rules (screen-capping, quoting), but I want you to talk to me. I think it should be fairly obvious that I can be trusted. Mana and I were rivals, both of us voting for the other.

My reasons to !vote Bond:

He was the 2nd to vote for Fyacin (saying it seemed suspicious, but not telling why).
He doesn't say much, many of his posts consist of just a few words.
In round 1, he wanted Vampyr dead. (Although so did the vigilante.)
He is one of the guys to vote for Jason without a reason.

Though the reasons to vote Bond seem valid,
The reasons again against Jason seem non-existent.
I'll vote more clear minded now as sure as this is a ballad.
So I !vote Germinator in his consistent.

If you ask why I think he's being consistent.
He's voted only for people I feel are innocent.
Perhaps not a reason for you to vote sane,
But this round I'm avoiding the long voting chain.

This attack on Jason has me suspicious. No one provides an explanation and rather seems to act as though their actions are self-evident. I would seem there is something going on behind the scenes here that many of us are not privy to.

I would assume because he's busy. Only logical answer. Even if he was guilty he'd be claiming he wasn't.
