Valkyria Chronicles - PS3 - STRAIGHT outta left field
 

What am I doing? What are you doing? If you liked Skies of Arcadia, drop whatever the hell it is you're doing right now and pick up Valkyria Chronicles for PS3. It's made by Wow/Overworks and published by Sega. It even has SOA characters IN the game.

Apparently it's out in Canada and I'm going to try my darndest to find it before I buy GoW2 tonight.

Genre-bending SRPG with the most gorgeus canvas-painted graphics in a video game. Ever. Also supports DTS Audio and features cameos by Skies of Arcadia characters Vyse, Aika, and plenty more.

The Sega we know and love is well alive. However.. SRPG? I'm going to play it and let you know how it is.

Oh my god, go out and buy this game right now. I can tell you exactly what it is. It's an interactive Fire Emblem / Advance Wars / Battalion Wars mashup game. It basically IS an SRPG, but instead of moving players through different squares, you PLAY that character in full 3D just like Battalion Wars for that turn.

And you can DEFINITELY tell Overworks made it - the troop levels and Tank Level Up system is very reminiscent of Ship Building in Skies of Arcadia.

Go buy this game. NOW!

Seriously, this game is the real deal. Oh my god.

It makes you ignore bodily functions and keep playing. That's how good it is.

The problem is that Japanese developers usually have crushes when they're making games, and only stick to one platform. When they make it for two platforms, things start to get kind of wonky, unless they have the manpower to support it.

Their QA is also pretty different - when the game is done, everybody tests the game and fixes it. It's unusual to have dedicated QA people during development. But, my point is, I really hope they're dedicating their manpower to Valkyria Chronicles 2 instead of porting it to 360 because damn this game is fantastic. :D

Ok so I haven't had a lot of time to play this lately but, just got to chapter 5, and the squad got a fucking pig. It's so supa kawaii uguu!

Also just found out there is an anime based on the game.

It's only 26 episodes. Probably download it when I finish the game.

Good call.

The last time I smoked weed it was out of a vaporizer and the plan was to play fighting games for like 3 hours, but we all sat in the grass in the backyard for like 2 hours talking about random shit and then drove to waffle house at 2 in the morning and ate.

However if we smoked weed while playing fighting games then we generally never strayed from those until hunger. Thanks weed.
